That's great! I'm going to propose it to my kids' school as a fund-raiser... maybe they could put a drop-off in the front entrance.

Thx OP. This is brilliant!! Heard about this a while back, but couldn't find anything; great to have somewhere to send the (crap) we were already saving since it isn't recyclable directly in town here, but couldn't bear to throw away.

Where do you apply for the prepaid recycling containers? Can't find it on the website. Have signed up, but also can't find any reference to Canada. What am I missing. I really want to do this.
TIA

what a neat idea........
We do have recycle pickup here in Calgary, but I almost prefer to do it this way knowing that funds will go to charity and that some of the items will be innovatively reused.....
We eat yoghart every day, as does my mother, thats a lot of little containers.if I am not redeeming my FPC for the tubs!!http://www.facebook.com/groups/29636...6361680429066/

And bumping this thread too with a cross posting for all us newbies just learning about this:
I *just* discovered this program after looking on the back of the Sally's cereal bag that we just finished. You can get them at Walmart (at least that's where I discovered them).
http://sallyscereal.ca/
So upon finishing the product, I was like is this recyclable? Compostable or what? On the back of the cereal bag it said "Can be Upcycled" with a link to TerraCycle's website. So off I went.
Man am I impressed at how many different items you can collect for this program.
Here's a direct link to items list:
http://www.terracycle.ca/en-CA/brigades.html
- Sandwich bags
- Cookie and cracker bags
- Drink Pouches
- Cell phones
- Cereal bags
- Chocolate bar wrappers
- Tassimo items
- Digital Cameras
- Inkjet cartridges
- Personal care items (ie. Garnier mentioned above)
- MP 3 players
- Laptops
As soon as I saw sandwich bags I thought finally!! Wish I had known about this earlier.
If there is already a sticky on this I apologize. If not may I strongly suggest there becomes one. It's definitely up an SC'ers alley. You send it in and get points that you can redeem or donate to charities. I'm a total dork b/c I am really excited about being able to do something about sandwich and freezer bags.Last edited by nightlite; Sun, Jan 29th, 2012 at 11:02 AM.

Thanks so much for this post; It sounds great and with the amount of waste we throw out, this will definately be a good program to sign up for.

I started this program some time in March last year and am glad to say, I have finally filled up a huge apple box that can be sent out.
Now, just need to find time to go to UPS to drop off my box.
