What is the purpose of these Downloaded Coupon tools - e.g. Scott towels, etc

I see that you can get FREE Scott towels with sales this weekend at Home Hardware & another close to free at Canadian Tire... but you need to download a program from Scott towels in order to download their coupon... which I just refuse to do. I do not need to chance trojan horses & viruses on my computer, which may come along with any downloads.

So, what's the deal with these downloadable coupon programs? What is their purpose? Is there ANY way to get these coupons (e.g. the $2 off Scott towels) without downloading their program?

No, the only way to get the coupon is to download the coupon printer. I think the reason companies use the coupon printer is so people don't abuse the printable coupons.
