This isn't a brag in the strictest sense of the word, but it is a response to my previous thread "Show me the gas card pics!"
MillieH stated that she figured that the NPN redemption reduced each card to about $2.50. This analysis will prove that it is actually a little more.
Here is how it breaks down:
NPN entry #1 .$59 + $.59=$1.18
plus HST .15
Total after tax $1.33
so 1.33X5=$6.65
That is the total mail out cost for 5 NPN entries.
The return: NPN #1, #2 and#3 $.59 + HST $.08=$.67
NPN #4 and #5 $.59 + HST $.08=$.67
So it is $6.65 +$1.34=$7.99
Total redemption $25.00-7.99=17.01
$17.01/5=$3.40 each
Obviously finding even 1 box entry increases the profit margin. So far I have only gone the NPN route because Kellogs has been quite slow getting the Gas Card boxes in my area and I haven't found any on my recycle walks.
If anyone sees an error in my math, please let me know. BTW, I didn't calculate these numbers beyond 3 decimals points and I rounded up not down. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Either way any free money is great, l was just telling hubby about this last night that yes we don't really get $5 but even if it is only $3.40 x 5 we are still in the money. We are planning to visit DD and new baby that will be born at the end of Nov so i said that will help with the 20 hour drive that we have to do

I buy the product (on sale and with coupons - can stack in my local SOF and LD) I have stamps anyways and the rebate forms, I have sent off 2 with the Kellogg cereal bars and have rec'sd 2 $5 cards (it took 2 week to get the cards) I will be doing 3 more. With the price of gas being more then the cost of stamp , why not do it??
I love rebates
