ExpiredHow do you guys interpret "Limit one coupon per purchase"?
I've done cashier and even many stores I went to the cashiers always interpret it as you could only use one coupon per item. However, I encountered 2 cashiers this week telling me that 1 coupon per purchase means I could only use one of that kind of coupon per transaction. I didn't want to spend time in educating them so I told them to do different transaction (which is really dumb on their end!)
What exactly does "Limit one coupon per purchase" really mean? This thread is currently associated with: N/A

It means one coupon per item purchased. Purchases are the items you buy, and there can be many purchases in a transaction.

I've had cashiers do the same thing and it's annoying. Per purchase means per each item. If you have 10 items, regardless of whether they are the same item or not, they are all separate purchases.
If they give you a hassle about it simply say "Okay, check this out, let me pay, give me my receipt and we can do it again for all of the other 6 items I would like to purchase". I'm sure at that point they will be more than willing to do it all in one transaction.

I agree with Tara F if the cashier is insistant and annoying...
1 coupon per purchase means the items that you buy. However, the whole entity of your purchases is called a transaction.Lynn

Yes, it's as bugga says.
All I do is say that politely to a cashier, and say that I have the time if you would like to ring through my items all separately - as I look back at the long line of customers waiting behind me!

It means if you are going buy 15 gilette fusion for $5 off, you need 15 $5 off coupons.

I did the same thing all the time, but sometime it didn't work. One day I was in Walmart buying 20 packs of Trident gum during the sale, and my cashier said that you can only use one coupon per transaction. I said the same thing as you, and that cashier actually did 20 transactions!

I had this young cashier once in WM who won't take more than 1 coupon even though I was buying 4. Even had to call a manager (youngish too) who also sided with her! Argh. The 'ring them in separately" line didn't work with them either. So I just told her to void the other items. Then I went to another cashier on the other side of the store
so I could use my other coupons. What a hassle! Since then I use 2 of same coupon max. I can't stand the drama.
The other week, there's this SDM cashier who won't let me use more than 1 of the $1 off Scott towels coupon when she accepted my other coupons. She said it's because and she even pointed it out to me, "when you buy any One (1) Scott towels package" so I can only use 1 even when I'm buying 2. Arghh.

That's ed.
I hate it when stores make up their own interpretation of the wording just to get their way.
When a coupon says Save $1.00 when you buy 1, it means you only have to buy 1 to save $1.00. Some coupons are Save $1.00 when you buy 2. This is an issue you will want to contact the manufacturer about and let them know the hassle you received at the store level. They are not going to want people buying less of their product because a store is restricting how many you can buy. Some people really need to use coupons and if they can't, they leave the product. Some cashiers also just want to argue, and they don't even read what the coupon actually says because they have it in their head they just want to argue that day.
I would go to the manufacturer's website, and send them an email or call their 1-800 number, tell them what happened and at which store, a sales rep will contact the store I'm sure and clarify for them what the coupon wording means.

Now I'm thinking about it, I should of just tell them and I'll walk out of the store and come back in
or I should take all of my coupons and go somewhere else. There was this stupid cashier and the other one I assume supervisor told me I could only use 1 coupon per visit. And then she starts telling me garbage how she goes to other store like PharmaPLus and they only let her use one coupon!
