So Friday is my birthday and every year my parents ask me what I want. This year I told them I wanted a pressure canner to can vegetables and possibly some stews, chilis, etc.
So I shopped around online and found out that for what they want here for $150, I can get from Target by ordering online for under $100.
Small problem: Target doesn't ship to Canada. And if they did the costs would probably astronomical. Within the US shipping is free over $50
Solution: there are receivers just south of the border who, for a small fee (usually around the $5-$10 range for small packages) will hold packages for you. I looked into it and it seemed reasonable. We're fairly close to the border and there's a receiver in the Sumas right on the other side.
So I talked to my dad and he told me to order it and he would make a payment on my credit card for it.
The next day, I went to the Target website and the canner I wanted was $83 (16qt), the next size up was regular $85 (23qt) and marked down to $21!
So I ordered it and paid for shipping and it ended up being $33.40. It shipped today
