Usually we see more come out late Sept-early October, the value is harder to tell, it depends on the company
Basically, a company will do a $50,000 (or whatever amount) marketing plan. They know how many of their coupons are typically redeemed (5-8% last year but increasing). So they work out the value of the coupons based on the number that will be redeemed. If it is 25k coupons, the coupon will be $2 off, but if 50k redeemed, they will do $1. Obviously it is all just estimated amounts but as we see more couponers, the values will likely not improve

I hope we get lot's of different coupons. That would be exciting. I think any amount on any coupon would be great. Big dollar off coupons are in too much of a demand. Not that saving money is bad but sometimes expectations are unrealistic.

Since I haven't been couponing for very long, I am excited to see what will be coming out this fall. I wasn't even aware, until recently, that the amount of coupons available changed with the seasons

Not necessarily seasons, just summer is slower for them which makes sense as people are on vacation (in the marketing depts and couponers) so they don't see as much value as in other months

I've not been doing this for long enough to REALLY understand the pattern perfectly yet, but it seems that summer has a lot of chips/pop/cool whip/sunscreen coupons, fall has a lot of lunch-food coupons and hawking every kind of school lunch treat out there, plus soup coupons, and winter brings smellie coupons, health-stuff coupons (advil, cold remedies, etc), candy coupons, holiday treat coupons and baking stuff coupons, and more soup coupons!
Plus companies know that consumers shop even more around the holidays and that makes them more likely to purchase items impulsively that they have coupons for or are promoted some way. AND because people often have family over for the holidays, food coupons are more numerous, especially foods one might associate with parties or holidays (including plain staples like crackers) and giftable items (like the gillette or aveeno gift sets, or packaged sets of smellies) often have coupons out for them too.
I'm getting all squirrelly just thinking about it. Eeep!

I will honestly say, I am completely sick of all the glade, febreeze, dishwasher soap & cleaning supplies coupons!
I want to see more food & beverage items!
I have absolutely no room in my storage for shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bar soap, body wash, razors or even toilet paper (well, for now lol), and I have no room for laundry soap in my laundry room.
In fact, I have an entire smartsource near by that I was given from the most recent one that I haven't even done a thing with because none of the coupons in it were of use to me!
Come on food companies - get those coupons out there! lol

Fall and winter present good opportunities for both shoppers and retailers. Coupons that take advantage of Thanksgiving, Halloween and pre Christmas celebrations are good for both shoppers and retailers.

I definitely agree there needs to be more food coupons, but I'm a glade, airwick and febreze addict! Plus they're super expensive regularly so they make great gifts.

Agree I'd love to see some 'fresh' coupons. Nothing in the recent inserts nor online has really excited me. I collected about 10 copies of the most recent inserts and I ended up recycling ALOT of them because I'm not going to clip or save the inserts when I know I don't need any more toothpaste!
I would love to see some coupons for things like noodles, soup and crackers, mmmm.Kate

I like the latest Carnation hot chocolate with coupons on the label for chocolate stuff! Great to have for when Boxing day comes and they clear out the stuff...add a coupon and bam!
