I would love to find an experienced OHIP biller who I can ask for help when I get really stuck. I am taking OHIP billing this semester through online courses and wow, it can be tough getting started I understand the basics but I have a feeling there will be a few bumps in the road while I learn this skill. If there is anyone who would be willing to help me out a bit, I would be forever grateful

i didn't realize ohip was complicated!

i've done lots of dental billing/insurance sleuthing. i had no training in the field, but was able to pick it up super fast. the office i first worked for was left by a chik on mat leave and prior to her there had been about 2-4 ppl working on stuff here and there, all of them had messed up the system pretty bad. for months after i was finding files full of stacks of insurance claims that had been hidden and forgotten by the previous ladies. time consuming but really a snap to work through.

i think you'll be fine once you get into the groove of it

Thanks The course I am taking is pretty heavy for someone with no experience with OHIP. It is a professional billers course and deals with everything from surgery clinics to premiums for after hours visits. We are expected to know the 89 page preamble of specific situations. It is crazy but I hope to pick it up soon. I think it will be easier when I am just dealing with a few common codes for a specific medical office. Right now, we are working from the entire 800 + pages from the schedule of benefits

We call it reporting and it is for community support programs for seniors (funded by the MofH). An example is we provide 1 hour of personal support = 1 unit and we know the cost of the unit to submit. There are tons of manuals, we enter it into our database and then quartlery submit to the MofH through their system.

So you already have the job? Is it for a hospital?
