lol seriously you bought 50 bags of veggies.. I hope you have a deep freeze ;)

Well it cost me $203 and I picked up 1,000 AMs.Quote:
Wow your a good guy all around Bob.
However, the flight I just booked worked out to $0.30/AM.
Looking at it that way 1,000 AMs = $300 plus I get about $85 back in taxes.
So, $203 spent gets $385 in benefit for a 90% profit.
Nice, but smart like a fox too!
Oh, and when I dropped the food off the food bank was giving out gift packages of 5 CDs (used of course). LOL!
I warned Safeway what I was planning on doing so at least the staff were prepared even if the person behind me in line wasn't! LOL!Quote:
50 bags of veggies is ALOT of veggies. People were looking at me like I was nuts! LOL
BTW: Wally-World is selling Green Giant this week 2 for $5 or $3.37 (???) each but no Airmiles.
However, even worse the Wally-World packages are the 500g while Safeway is 750g.
So, once again, even though Safeway is usually higher-priced if you watch what you're doing you can kick @$$!
To WW's credit, this week they have the Breton Crackers on for $1.67. Even with AMs I don't recall Safeway ever beating that price.
operabob - I wish you lived in vancouver and I could just follow you around. I find it so hard to shop at safeway!
Thanks D,
I was born in Vancouver and grew up in Kitsilano.
Few people are aware of this but Kits is named after:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_Jack_Khatsahlano
Capilano is another form of the name.
Well, did my good deed for the week. Went to Safeway, bought 40 bags of the veggies. Then drove over to the local food bank and donated them. By my math (and yes there's some rounding here):
Direct out of pocket: $100
Airmiles (505 AM): Approx $50
Tax receipt for donation: Approx $40
Net cost: $10 for 40 bags of veggies (25 cents per bag)
That warm and fuzzy feeling: Priceless :)
I love reading this site. I am new to this and super motivated :) Love to get 1000 airmiles.
I am just trying to figure out how you got to the 1000 airmiles.
50 bags would cost you $125.00. What else did you buy to make up the airmiles and get to the $200 spending
Sorry...just new to this....truly appreciate your help.
As it was for the food bank I went with the B10G25 offer on Kraft Dinner (KD) at $1/box.
Bought 70 boxes for 175 AMs and threw in a Turkey to get over $200.
If you look back a page or so there's a B$200G300 bonus coupon good to Dec. 20 (Actually, every cashier has it and it's supposedly automatically applied at the cash register.
So counting the veggies it was:
500 + 175 + 300 = 975
Safeway gives a bonus AM for every $20 so 10 more = 985.
My credit card gets 1 AM/$10 at Safeway for 20 more = 1005,
Hope this helps.
There's a one page (double sided) insert for Safeway in today's paper for holiday foods good until Dec. 27. Only one AM item but it's the Green Giant offer continuing.
Agreed, but as this was Christmas I went with the KD, otherwise it would have been the Lysol (wonder if I have any coupons?). :icon_santa:Quote:
Since Food bank takes everything, including non food items too. It is more profitable to go with the toilet cleaners.
My $17.50 (or was it $25) Entertainment book on which I get the 40% kick back (or whatever it was) was hand delivered by CanPar. Must have cost a fortune in comparison.
On airmiles facebook page they are running a Season's Giving Contest from Dec 17 - 28. There are instant win prizes of airmiles. I won 100 airmiles yesterday.
Tried registering for it but it would complete for me. Tried 3 times and gave up.Quote:

I am begining the process of rolling my airmiles into groceries. From now on I will be purchasing groceries with them. This week I used 285 out of the 300 ams I got from my BMO appointment to get a safeway gc. Now I am going to pick up 10 packs of the green giant veggies and earn back 102 airmiles. Zero out of pocket and i am rebuilding my airmiles to do this again next month. Rolling my points keeps my OOP conciderably lower. I know this system doesn't work for everyone... but for low income people this is a pretty great option.
4 Days. Haven't won a thing! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iODKcj0W9n...0/sad+face.jpg
