Thanks for this info! My parents have a Safeway card that they gave to me to use, seeing how they don't have a Safeway near where they live (they moved away from here a few years back). I was using it to buy extra items when the limit sucked! Now I will definitely put it to some good AM use!!
We have 3 cards between us but I've never done more than a 500 AM purchase on any one item in a day.
Which is exactly what I want it for: basic short video clips for our web page.Quote:
Would be ok for basic video/still grabs.
i love the airmiles from this place. i think the best redemption on airmilies is gas
Thanks.Quote:

Gas used to be the worst @ $0.1143/AM until about 3 months ago when all the other GCs which had averaged $0.139 where revalued to equal gas. That was a 27% loss to us.
There are now only 2 GCs better than gas: Best Western at $0.133 and one other (I forget at the moment) at $0.125.
OB, I was just trying to figure out how much an airmile costs based on the cost of a flight and I'm elated! Now, I guess before I get too excited, I would like you to check it out and tell me if I'm correct.
We live in the north so we only ever use air miles to fly from here to the closest major city.
The cost of a return flight is $609.26 (off season)
The cost in air miles is 712 (off season/this also includes 25% off for having a MC)
Would the cost of each air mile than be worth $0.85? ($609.26/712)?? This almost seems too good to be true.
Thanks!
Yes, flights from smaller regional airports can be terrific deals.
The $609.26 includes taxes/fees. Oh, right! I forgot that I would have to use 712 air miles PLUS $156 for taxes/fees.
So would it now become $609.26 +$156 = $765.26
$765.26/712 = $1.07/air mile
That really can't be right! Help LOL!!
LOL! yeah that makes more sense. $0.63/air mile is awesome!!! Thanks for your help!
We just booked flights from Edmonton to San Juan, Puerto Rico in January.
On the West Jet website the cost would have been $1157/ticket.
Through airmiles, we paid $183 in taxes and 4030 airmiles/ticket (gold status).
If my calculations are correct, that's approximately $.24/airmile
Suzie,
That sounds about right. From larger centers the value drops but flights are still very good value.
BTW: Was just in Safeway. They're playing a "spin the wheel" game if you donate $2 (G5AMs). Just won a fancy pen. Almost impossible to lose. It'll be a stocking stuffer.
