If you are concidered a new airmiles user watch your points. Safeways may not be adding on your points as far back as cardholders that joined up in Aug 2011. My points were not showing up and i got my card in dec. Safeways has a issue with their computers and after calling them and waiting a month i still didn't have my points so i called again. This problem is very extensive and only because i called air miles directly instead of the safeways number did they even find out the problem existed. I have gotten perscriptions filled and done deals and i am missing over 200 air miles. This is being corrected... but ONLY because i called and let them know there was a problem with my account. So check your airmiles and make sure safeways is giving them to you. (The manager at air miles did not sound impressed that this problem exists and i did take the time to explain there are a lot of people who may not be watching their points as close as i am and they are loosing out.)
just used 1200 for a short haul return flight...worked out to 26 cents/airmile value after taking into account the tax differential
I have also had problems with my airmiles not showing up from Safeway. I phoned them and they told me that they will investigate what is going on..might take up to 4 weeks!!!
here's a bit of info about the company running the e-auction and other events for Safeway:

Also, a brochure on their programs that they've used with their clients to increase sales...

Interesting reading during this presumably slow week, Air Miles-wise...
Buffy said we needed Salsa so I bought 3 at Safeway (25 AMs) @ $3 each but forgot the tomato she wanted so stopped at Fairway on the way home.
The El Paso Salsa was $5.99 there so I'm feelin' good!
Haven't spent a cent at Safeway in a week....feeling pretty good about that too LOL!!
Toilet Duck next week if you have BOGOs will be decent.
Not much else as the reduced AMs continues.
Actually, it might be the Lysol.
With BOGO you'd pay $2.50 before tax for 2 and pick up 20 AMs ($2.10).
OK, so it looks like Safeway is continuing to shrink the number of AirMiles offered on many products (see Irish Spring below).
You might find some value in Lysol products if you have BOGO coupons.
The only other thing I see that may have value is the Red Rose tea. Fairway has it on for $4.99 this week which is the same price as Safeway which has bonus AMs. However, if you can get Red Rose elsewhere for less than $4.11 do not buy it at Safeway.

NADA
TY for all the info, good reading. Now just need to practice it. LOL
Safeway's cut back on the Irish Spring amounts 67% reduction in Airmiles but when you combine it with AirMiles' revaluation the price advantage has dropped from $1.40 to $0.35 or a 75% decrease in the consumers purchasing power. I think Safeway is counting on people being addicted to AirMiles to buy without thought.
With you on our side, OB, we definitely THINK before we shop. Safeway is very disappointing these days on ALL counts (product availability, prices and air miles)
got my 100 gc in the mail the other day, still waiting for my Nike golf set
Last week (well the current week) is much better with all the BOGO sales. It goes in cycles.
The Dial might make some sense with the right coupons and if the deal includes the right products. I've got a couple $2 off Dial refills coupons left.
