Wow your a good guy all around Bob.
Well it cost me $203 and I picked up 1,000 AMs.

However, the flight I just booked worked out to $0.30/AM.

Looking at it that way 1,000 AMs = $300 plus I get about $85 back in taxes.

So, $203 spent gets $385 in benefit for a 90% profit.

Nice, but smart like a fox too!

Oh, and when I dropped the food off the food bank was giving out gift packages of 5 CDs (used of course). LOL!

I warned Safeway what I was planning on doing so at least the staff were prepared even if the person behind me in line wasn't! LOL!

BTW: Wally-World is selling Green Giant this week 2 for $5 or $3.37 (???) each but no Airmiles.

However, even worse the Wally-World packages are the 500g while Safeway is 750g.

So, once again, even though Safeway is usually higher-priced if you watch what you're doing you can kick @$$!

To WW's credit, this week they have the Breton Crackers on for $1.67. Even with AMs I don't recall Safeway ever beating that price.

My deep freeze is full completely to the top. I was worried they were not going to fit. I'll get to the food bank next week to drop them off and I'll get my space back!

    Thanks D,

I was born in Vancouver and grew up in Kitsilano.

Few people are aware of this but Kits is named after:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_Jack_Khatsahlano

Capilano is another form of the name.

Well, did my good deed for the week. Went to Safeway, bought 40 bags of the veggies. Then drove over to the local food bank and donated them. By my math (and yes there's some rounding here):

    Direct out of pocket: $100
    Airmiles (505 AM): Approx $50
Tax receipt for donation: Approx $40
Net cost: $10 for 40 bags of veggies (25 cents per bag)

That warm and fuzzy feeling: Priceless

I love reading this site. I am new to this and super motivated Love to get 1000 airmiles.

I am just trying to figure out how you got to the 1000 airmiles.

50 bags would cost you $125.00. What else did you buy to make up the airmiles and get to the $200 spending

Sorry...just new to this....truly appreciate your help.

probably 39 bottles of Lysol toilet cleaners. they are $2 each with B3G25Am & B6G60AM.

He didn't include taxes which are not tax deductible.

As it was for the food bank I went with the B10G25 offer on Kraft Dinner (KD) at $1/box.

Bought 70 boxes for 175 AMs and threw in a Turkey to get over $200.

If you look back a page or so there's a B$200G300 bonus coupon good to Dec. 20 (Actually, every cashier has it and it's supposedly automatically applied at the cash register.

So counting the veggies it was:

    500 + 175 + 300 = 975

Safeway gives a bonus AM for every $20 so 10 more = 985.

My credit card gets 1 AM/$10 at Safeway for 20 more = 1005,

    Hope this helps.
