Hope you were able to use some airmiles to help pay for it!
As we were traveling with friends some of the BWs gave me bonus points for their stays too even though they weren't supposed to.
Roatan, Belize, Cozumel
Give Belize a miss!
Every guide book says Roatan is the best snorkeling in the Caribbean but it was the worst I've been too. Cozumel (2nd time we've been) had the best this trip. Just caught a cab for the "Money Bar" 5 miles down the road. $3 each for taxi, no charge for the beach or chairs and $2/beer and good snorkeling.
Before we left we spent a couple of days in Galveston. They were getting ready for Mardi Gras and people from all over had stacked out their space along the sea wall with motor homes pulling trailers with giant hand made bbq smokers in them some the size of small cars. Half of them also had a second trailer carrying a plastic outdoor toilet like the ones you see at events. Too funny!
So I spent considerable time on the Internet researching best BBQ in Galveston. The one most people seemed most passionate about was a place called Leon's which was also listed as cheap. It was great fun. Leon built a restaurant in his basement about 50 years ago I guess. Hasn't been painted since and it's the first restaurant I've been to where the forced air furnace was part of the dining room. We ordered beer which came in tins with a straw inserted. LOL!
Leon himself was immaculate in cowboy hat, spotless white shirt and perfectly shaved. He calls himself "Doctor Barbeque". As we came in he was telling everyone "No more brisket. I'm totally out of brisket". We sat down and when Leon realized we weren't local (and his place was definitely well off the beaten path) gave us each an extra side plate. Then the mountain of meat arrived. After we struggled through suddenly a plate of brisket, the size of a roast, appeared on our table. It was still bubbling. He'd gone out to his smoker (the size of a garage) and got a fresh one just for us. No charge!
While we were their Leon's pastor and family (who obviously have never missed any meals) were finishing their dinner. They had just come off a cruise ship and first stop was Leon's. Before they left they performed a Southern Baptist blessing of the restaurant. Great fun.
Texas BBQ is an acquired taste (smoked and dry) but I'd definitely go back for the fun and I enjoyed the meal. Total before tip for 4 meals and beer was something like $45.

welcome back, sounds like a great trip! You got me drooling here, I love Texas BBQ! I lived in Houston for 4 months, and gained my "Texas 10". Such a low cost of living down there, great food at ridiculous prices. Galveston is an interesting place...2 years ago there was still random boats the middle of fields, and lots of hurricane damage/debris.

Apparently you can now request your annual $5 Chapman's Ice Cream coupon through this email.
I didn't give my phone and included address in the email.
Supposedly 1 per family.

Just bought 2 Chapman products at Safeway as they're on sale.

Just in Wally World and the Cheerios with Movies are $3.96.
Yes, overall Safeway is higher-priced but those of us that know how to Cherry Pick....
Also, I used a B$50G$5 coupon today so Safeway ended up @ $3 each.
Also, I only skim read the Dare thing. I got my $15 Letter with a $10 GC. So is it really $15 loaded on a $10 card?
