Thanks Bob! That makes sense. We want to go to Victoria (and then down to Washington) at some point so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to use my points or not.

If you know the exact date you're going then you could do a more accurate calculation.
The $269 - $310 flights after tax work out to $0.125 (approx) during the 25% discount period which is very comparable to many gift cards.
Just saw the flyer has B5G60 for the raisin bran 475g and other kelloggs cereals
they're on sale for 2 for $5, so $2.50 each box
I have tonnes of the $2 coupons for raisin bran and corn flakes..so
so if I buy 5, 5 x $2.50 = $12.50
$12.50 - (5 x $2 coupons) = $2.50 for 5 boxes of cereal + 60AMs
I also checked the sizes for the cereals and the $2 coupons...the coupons work for the raisin bran 475g and the corn flakes 525g so..
from this purchase of $2.50, I would get $8.40 in AMs...
Re: The flight issue
Someone posted this at another site after I did the calculation there.
It would seem you get tremendous value out of airports other than major centers.Quote:
When I use Airmiles for flights, I use them for a lot of short leg flights that I take. So it is 700 Airmiles to fly from Fort McMurray to Victoria, and it costs $618 to take the flight. Take the $25 admin fee off (taxes are not included as well, but if you are taking the flight anyways it is a moot point), then my Airmiles are worth $0.85 each.
If you weren't going to take the flight, reducing the value of the taxes makes it worth $0.70 an Airmile.
Would seem to make sense. I recall years ago when I lived in the Interior of the province it cost twice as much to fly to Vancouver than it did to fly from Vancouver to Toronto 4 to 5 times the distance.
You have to evaluate each flight individually to determine value.
kai,
Don't know if the coupons apply here but this week Kellogg's 2 Scoops: 350g-775g are $3 B5G75Quote:

If they do apply then 5 = $5 and you get $10.50 in AMs (or min. $8.57 in gas).
You're still being paid to shop.
Ooh! and Kai,
Feel free to post this at the other site if you wish!
This week (June 21 - June 27) ...buy 5 OvenJoy Bread earn 50 Bonus Air MIles.
pop,
So far that's what's great about this thread.
I gather from all the private emails (and on line comments) I've received at the other site if someone posts this kind of info then someone jumps in screaming you've trod on someone else's turf. Mind you, the vast majority of comments are really appreciative of this approach.
The more we alert each other the better we all do.
Thanks,
BTW: Walked through Safeway after coming out of UP (highly recommend this non-cliched movie). The food bank box was stacked with AirMile specials. I'm guessing but I think since we've started calculating real values for people here many people are donating more.
I'm not sure if this has been asked before but can you use regular coupons on top of the email direct for say Pantene Hair Care 2.99 coupon? Now would be a good time to use the save $1.50 WUB2 if it can be done.
My experience is yes you can use coupons.
Note: On Pantene while it shows 2 bottles it says one offer/visit. Not sure how that'll work out at the cash register.
I made use of the 100 bonus AM wub Pampers as well as the 99c deodorant that was on not long ago. I bought 4 of each(had print out for each) and the casher at self checkout had no problem with it. I went to a reg till and the lady had no clue so the girl at self checkout told me to come over and rang it all up. :)
