On a somewhat related side note...I have always been amazed by the sheer number of airmiles needed to go from BC to eastern Canada. We don't travel much so I may just be late to the party but I noticed the other day that shorter haul trips from BC to the southern US are sometimes routed via Toronto or Montreal for the same number of airmiles as the direct shorthaul flight! So, 2344 AM from BC to Toronto BUT 1200 AM from BC to Dallas via Toronto. So if you want to go to Toronto can you book the Dallas flight and not catch your last flight? That would save you half the AM! Or do the AM police swoop in and escort you to your last flight???
Actually, it's a smart strategy!!!!!!

And...also actually, surprise, the airlines don't approve of the procedure!!

Before you want to start trying a "hidden city ticket", be careful. Don't ever do it with a return flight, since the airline has the right (in their rules) to cancel the entire ticket, return portion included. Plus, you have to have carry on luggage only, no checked bags. If you are going to do it, tell the flight attendant (say its an emergency) or you will be holding up the flight. (mention you have no checked bags - I was once on a flight where this happen and they went looking for the guys bags, until they realized he didn't have any!!!)

Don't know if this works for western Canada for Shell though as the link only seems to go to the usual 10Xs on V-Power. Someone can look deeper:

They must not like the people out west
In Ontario (at least my neck of the woods) I get a buck and a half extra worth of AM's
"As a valued AIR MILES Cash Collector, here's an offer just for you. This weekend only, get the most out of your reward miles. Simply redeem at AIR MILES® Cash Sponsors and you'll earn25 Bonus AIR MILES reward miles.*"
I know food might be pricier to ship out west, but didn't think AM's cost more, too!!

So....quick calculation here, but if you are spending btw. $75 - $100 to get the $10 Safeway GC.. you are doing just as good (if not better) than waiting for the 10% off Tues.? I see the GC offer is only valid for the weekend. Just putting it out there in case I am missing something (I want some of the 3 day sale items, so will combine that with my list for Tues.).
