Have to say I bought lettuce at SW the other day on sale for $1.49 (RCSS $2.69) and they were really large and fresh (leaf variety) I haven't noticed a quality issue at my store but the offers have been dismal.

I agree with @Miss Molly that Sobeys is known for high quality (and prices), but my 2 local Safeways used to have quite high quality meat and produce as well (at least, high enough for my picky hubby!). I used to buy almost ALL my stuff at Safeway, because in my opinion, Sobeys was (and still is) overpriced.
But I also agree with @Tommycoupons : I have definitely noticed that since Sobeys took over Safeway, the meat and produce at my local Safeways has gone wa-a-ay downhill. It's almost as if Sobeys is using Safeway as a clearance store for their second-run goods. The general consensus among my neighbours is that Sobeys has ruined Safeway. Let's hope they can rejuvenate it soon.

One thing that was good about the old Safeway was they didn't use mechanical meat tenderizers so they were safer. Don't know if that's changed.
Any semi good offers at all? I'm across from a Safeway for the next 2 days.

They gave lots of the good airmiles to sobeys this time... Yes Safeway we notice that stuff! Sobeys has a spend 50 get 75 ams.
The purex is a ok deal with a $1 coupon. $5.99 each - $1 coupon takes it to every other compeditors price before coupons. The buy 2 get 35 am's makes it better to about 3.25 each. Last weeks royal deal was far better.
Our compliments beef sausage is a good deal at 500gms for $3.49
Salad bags 2 for $3 is the best price on those this week
Johnsonville sausages 1.2 kg (almost 3lbs) $6.99
Basic crest or colgate is $1 each
Dove haircare or styling is $2.99
Ivory bars of soap or body wash are $2.99
Axe is $3.49 each
Degree, dove and lever are b1g1 and buy 4 get 20 ams. The b1g1 cost is usually so high it is cost prohibitive.
Green giant veggies are $2.99 each (usually I get them 2 for $5 at walmart)
quaker granola bars are 5 for $10
Sunrype apple juice is .99
Oranges are $10 for a $10 box... but I found them cheaper at other stores.
There is a buy 50 get 50 on the front page. Airmiles wise, it is pretty sucky.Swagbucks, Earn 30 - $50 a month in surveys plus cash backs on your spending. You have to work at it, but it is WORTH it and it can help you buy some Christmas presents for free with Amazon gift cards or paypal payments. Referral link http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/cheekysaver

No Sobey's here. Just Thrifty's, owned by Sobey, but terrible AM offerings.

Here's a post yesterday from safeway's facebook to help back up my previous complaint.
RJ Singh The produce quality in your stores has significant declined. There is no difference now from Safeway and the discount stores. Going bad even on the shelf. What are you doing to fix this? Sobeys taking over Safeway has been worse for the consumer.

The produce dept at the gordon road location in Regina is lacking big time. The lettuce is pathetic the asparagus was like picking up a piece of licorice. You really expect people to buy that garbage?

Well, in the new Jan.29th Safeway flyer I don't see that many great "Lower Prices" however, I noticed a lot more AM reward offerings.
