Safeway's Sweet AirMiles Deals

Well I think this may be the straw that breaks my back with Air Miles.

In spite of all the reductions and changes (for the worse) AM's has made through the years, it still worked for us. We were still able to collect a lot through Safeway and their pharmacy, and combined with the 25% MC discount, I found it still a viable program.

With the recent ruling in Alberta banning reward programs on prescriptions though, and this future reduction through MC, I can no longer see a reason to hang in there.

It's a bit ironic that change outside the program's control has pushed us away, knowing so many angry collectors dropped out over the years due to reduced AM valuation, and difficulty collecting.

I wonder how long this program can continue without positive change? Admittedly, not knowing the ins and outs of most other reward programs out there, it seems to me it can't work much longer.

Effective January 15, 2018 we are changing the flight discount on flights within North America.
For the AIR MILES World Elite product the benefit will be changing from 25% to 15%. The flight discount of 25% will be removed from AIR MILES World product.

Not unexpected as when they were forced to back down on the cancellation attempt they did announce that they were going to adjust their pricing to compensate.


Funny though, I did receive an email from them about the other day offering an extra 75AM bonus if I got 150 AMs in the next couple of weeks to help me towards maintaing my Gold status next year.

They forgot many of us have received 2 previous emails saying we were good through to 2019. One email could be a mistake but 2 months apart!!!!! CLASS ACCOUNT LAWSUIT ANYONE! LOL!

No special offers for me. I guess because I made onyx months ago.. and have earned almost 4k AM in November already (Thanks AMEX Reserve Card!).

Shop the Block is back.. not too difficult to use 7 offers. Much easier in the east (Ontario) with all they're Sobeys/Foodland offers.

I read this as just needing to spend a minimum of $20 at 3 shops. Am I reading this right? Any one know which stores you can buy gift cards and earn airmiles?

The HBC egiftcards offer is for redeeming your AM for a HBC egiftcard. So you are not buying anything.
