Wow, this is the fastest AM update I have ever seen. I went to a Rexall yesterday afternoon and the 95 AM is already added to my AM acct online today.

Well, I'm still ONYX,which is tough without a Safeway. Didn't think I'd do it as I needed about 2,500 and missed the 2,000AM 7/7 SHOP the Block missing the Thrifty's date by not paying attention so was 1,500 short. December offers at Thrifty's and Rexall saved the day. Yes, Rexall is over-priced but get those $5 OFF on $25 coupon books when they come out and sign up for their email if you haven't. On Tuesdays they mostly send out coupons that require less spending with a better AM return.Quote:
Happy New Year!
Onyx balances have been reset to Zero!
New personalized coupons are up on Airmiles.ca
Hopefully 2018 will be a better year for collectors, seeing flights are going to cost a lot more miles...
No Safeway flyer in my flyer bundle today...
Perhaps I misread the Nov 30 email:
"As of January 1, 2018, any Collectors who qualify or requalify for Gold or Onyx™ status will receive their benefits from the day they qualify until December 31 of the following year."
Since I have Onyx status until Mar 31, 2018, I thought I would have it until Dec 31, 2019?
Having Onyx is different than qualifying for Onyx?
I am expecting over 8k air miles within the next couple of months though.
(2 x 3k am) (BMO am elite card) + (2 x 150 am) (BMO required spend) + 2k (shop the block) = over 8k am.
sounds like they were saying it ended Jan 1 2018 and you had to have the miles credited as of that date to gain or maintain status for the upcoming year. Not like there's many perks to onyx anyways.
Well, if you're quick and nearby you can get the 1SB specials with ONYX. Last year got 2 or 3 movies, one gourmet dinner, a wine and doughnut event (a lot better than it sounds), a Broadway musical and field side Whitecaps game all for 1SB each.

Not really Airmiles related, but travel related because we need to stay in hotels.
I recently signed up for the Amex SPG card $120 Annual fee and you get 20,000 SPG points welcome bonus which is worth about $500 at sheraton hotels.
Sheraton and Marriott merged, so the hotel selection is going to be quite large.
I really think this card is worth looking into if you travel.
Tommy, not AirMiles related either but just this week I booked $3,000 worth of hotels/BNBs and one airline ticket using credit card and survey points for an upcoming trip to the UK.Quote:

Booked the hotels/BNBs now because World Elite was devaluing their old points by 40% on January 15. The new point accumulation rate is just about the same just calculated differently. I have to look at it again as it might be better. Old was 1 point/$1 new is either 1.5/$1.4 or 1.4/$1.5. Obviously the first is slightly more favourable.
I intend now to cancel that card and assume they'll send me to customer retention. If not, a new card elsewhere it is!
I have this card and loved it.
Another card I recommend is the AMEX Cobalt with $10 monthly fees. Earn 5 MR pts per $1 spend at grocery stores and restaurants. MR pts can be transferred to SPG (and Marriott). It has been a very good card for my Safeway AM trips. I think AMEX is running a promotion right now for 2500/month bonus pts for 12 months.
@engo what would be the value of 2500 points approximately?
