You would have to do it today if the June 28 date is accurate. You cannot transfer miles between your dream balance and airmiles cash balance.

Do you ever purchase the air miles insurance?
    No.

    $99 with BMO gets me:

    1. Family coverage
    2. $2,000,000 medical
    3. trip cancellation

The trip cancellation is only good if I use the Mastercard to purchase the trip. AirMiles seems to want an arm and a leg for cancellation.

Tons of offers this week. I'm going to have flames from my fingers writing them all down.

I'm noticing more 10 AMs/item offers again but still not as many as before.

    1. If you have BOGOs on Lysol you'll do well as there's a B3G25 & B6G60 offer. Many items are $2.49. With BOGOs you're getting 20 AMs on every $2.49 so $2.49/0.39.

    2. Kellogg's is B6G100. Most items are $4 (Rice Crispies $4.50) so effectively 4/2.25. However, if those BOGO coupons ever arrive it works out to $4/0.50.

Does that include Safeway groceries? Or is it specific to a particular store?

The Gold BMO Card works for me because it saves me several $100s on travel insurance alone.

It includes Safeway, Walmart, all grocery stores(there is a very long list if you are looking for an obscure store it might not be on there)

The MBNA "SmartCash" card is the one I use as well. We've had it for a couple of years and are very pleased with the card. Also have to say the MBNA customer service is top-notch -- they are all very friendly and helpful (but be aware they are always trying to upsell you, nothing wrong with that, just sayin).

The card itself costs nothing to own if you pay it off in full every month (which everyone should do anyway). They give you 3% cash back on all groceries and gas and 1% on everything else. It's based on the store category - so everything on a Safeway transaction would be considered "groceries" - eg: including bus tickets, gift cards, etc. -- and you get the full 3% back. I just checked the MBNA site, store just has to be listed under MasterCard merchant category codes 5541, 5542 or 5411.

The rebate is sent to you every month (once you reach $50) by cheque.

When you first open an account they give you 5% back instead of 3% for six months. We were just offered a free upgrade to their "World" SmartCash card - based on being a good customer I suppose. It came with another 6-month 5% deal plus some other good benefits - doubling any warrantee up to one extra year on purchases, 60-day price protection if you find your purchase cheaper in that time they'll give you the difference, travel insurance, concierge service, and other niceties.

We put everything on that card and it's definitely one I recommend.

Does using your Mastercard to purchase the trip through air miles count if you need to cancel? I thought the air miles insurance was to only get your air miles back if you had to cancel.

    kels,

The only things covered would be what you charge to your card.

If you use AirMiles to purchase the trip it would only be covered if you purchase the coverage AirMiles sells as I understand it.
