Wanted the Royale toilet paper on sale at Canadian Tire for $4.67 to stocked up for the winter. Got 5 packages of 12 double rolls for $26.38 - $5 in coupons = $21.38 plus $0.25 in Canadian Tire money

Next went to Foodland to buy the 2L Schweppes gingerale on sale for $0.97 with my coupon that when you buy 4 2L you get $2 off. (wow) then thought since I needed dog food I would check out what it cost here instead of making another stop with two kids. Sign said $15.99 for 8kg which is about $2 cheaper than No Frills. Done deal and with my $3.50 coupon it would be even sweeter. Got to the cashier and it comes up at $18.99. Of course they check and I am right with it being $15.99. So the cashier tells me she has to give it to me for $8.99 with the SCOP which I am happy with and I would still get my $3.50 off coupon to use. Instead she says here let's just do this, you keep your coupon and I'll just give it to you for free!!!! (this was a manager, so don't think I was getting a young person who was going to get into trouble for this!) I said that works for me !Yay!!!!!!!

4 x 2L Schweppes gingerale and 1 x 8kg purina dog chow OOP=$2.38 WOO HOO!!! Best SCOP yet!!!!

The deal you got because of the SCOP was incredible. However, when you were told that it would be $8.99 ($18.99 - $10.00 SCOP) that was wrong. The SCOP is applied to the lowest advertised price. With the SCOP you should have been charged $15.99 - $10 = $5.99. Then your coupon is deducted from the $5.99. As I said, you were given an even better deal, but in future, know that the SCOP (maximum $10) is applied to the advertised price, not the higher price that rang up on the register.

Way to go! I was about to ask how a SCOP works but Kristeven answered it However, I do still wonder what SCOP means...

That's what I thought it was too but had two little ones with me and wasn't in the mood to argue. I have never received a SCOP on an item over $10 before.

SCOP is scanning code of practice. Also the rule is for items under $10 that you get the first item free and if you have a second item you get that one at the sale price too.
