I know everyones already heard this issue time and time again but it just sickens me that people do this!
Yesterday the temperature in the gta was in the 40s with the humidity and a lady who parked at the mall i work at left her dog in the car with all the windows up.
Another person in the lot came into the store i work at and used the phone to call the cops.
The person who owned the dog heard her calling the cops and ran out of the store after the women. They then had a confrontation where they were yelling and screaming at eachother in the parking lot.
The cops showed up and I guess they both had taken off as soon as the cop showed up.
WHY would you bring your dog to a shopping mall when you know you'll have to leave them in the car?
Its animal abuse and its disgusting.
p.s. my store allows dogs inside because its retail and not a grocery storeLast edited by c_mcarthur; Wed, Sep 1st, 2010 at 12:28 PM.

I've called that in I don't know how many times. Truly revolting.

I really can't understand why anyone would do this. I can't even wrap my head around it. It is animal abuse. God, I wouldn't even leave my dog alone in my car for five seconds for fear someone would steal him because it happens ALL THE TIME.

I never understand why anyone would bother to bring an animal with them on a shopping trip when they know full well they will leave the animal in a car.
Dumb, dumb, dumb...The average dog
is nicer
than the average person.

I think a phone call to the police is only appropriate. Would you leave a child or a senior in the car? Hopefully not, and pets are no different. Just disgusting.
And as for the stealing comment that's another thing I'd fear even if it wasn't hot- especially pure breeds for breeding (unless they're spayed/neutered then they may be able to tell).
Leave your pets at home and go to the store without them or make an extra trip, it's not worth the risk and the harm to your pet. I think people like this have no common sense if they think for themselves rather than the ones they're responsible for as well.
The worst part is the laws and punishments aren't even strict enough for people to honestly take this into consideration.

I'm not sure about the rest of Canada but here in Quebec you pay a hefty fine for leaving a pet in a car I've called the cops a good few times myself with NO fear of the owner. I wait by the car until the cops show up. If the owner shows up before the cops I take down the license plate number. Yes, I've had a few confrontations. I've even broken into a car to give a dog water because it was blistering hot out and it had been over 30min that I had placed the call. I didn't get nabbed for it and I was upfront about it with the officer who responded to the call.
I hate stupid people and I wish stupidity was painful. TM2C

Always leave your dogs at home when you go shopping and not your car! I know my pup Newton wants to go everywhere I go but I love him enough to say no when it is not safe. I also worry about someone stealing him.

I get too upset thinking about those poor animals, the owner should be locked in the car for the same length of time just as a first time punishment if they survive hopefully there wouldn't be a second time.

People are stupid, its like leaving your dog in an oven for safe keeping. That really makes me mad, did you hear about the new alarm for cars to remind parents there are kids in the backseat? WHY is that necessary? *shakes head* just leave your pets at home, very simple.

People do that in front of my store all the time, and we're a pet store! Ugh people are dumb. We actually called the Ottawa Humane Society this past week, and earlier in the summer called the cops 'cause some idiot left two kids under 3 in a car for at least 40 mins. We definitely do not hesitate to call.
