Sort of a brag
Awhile back, I posted how I was banned from buying any more dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, deoderant, shaving gel, cleaning supplies, etc. because I have about a year's worth of all of that.
Well, last week, Darren was "laid off" (he got a good severance).
A couple of weeks before I started a secondment that requires me to drive a lot. I was reimbused for mileage but when I went through $50 of gas in two days, I asked for more direct help.
The day he was laid off they approved me for a corporate car and gas.
The good news? All I really have to worry about is getting groceries.
And Darren will be clean for when he goes on interviews :)

Wow! That is a lot of change all at once, glad to hear that there is also a silver lining, and BOY I BET you are glad that you have that stockpile!! :) Good luck with all the changes!

Our "insurance" policies (stock piles) help relieve stress when situations like that happen....I wish you all the best, I think it'll all work out positively!
Silver lining = maybe DH will let you stockpile more!!

Oh he's totally in on all the stockpiling. He even finds me coupons. And there'd be no "letting me" - I'd just do it. :)
And he's found about 20 jobs he's qualified for; the one he's really qualified for (but not overqualified) starts at about $30000/yr more than what he was making. And he's more relaxed than I've seen him in about 18 months.

It's funny how that works. It makes life so much easier on everyone in the house when you like/are happy with your job.
Wishing you luck in your new position and sending out good vibes for your other half...

Sending positive vibes to you guys, I could use some myself, haha. Good for you for being prepared!

Good for you for being prepared & staying positive :top:! Good severance helps offset some anxiety but think emotionally it's tough for anyone to deal with a job loss. Sometimes it really does lead to better things though. My sis lost her job a while back (she got 6 mos. salary) but still was really worried what that she might not be able to find another job within that period. Turns out she got a job 2 mos. later for 2X her previous salary :excited: So, you never know what's around the corner - good luck!
