Do you know if there is a Canadian list on the web somewhere that lists the lowest prices on many commonly purchased items?

I don't so. Prices can vary depending on where you live. Transportation cost, fuel, supply and demand will influence how much you pay. Where I live finding TP under 40 cents a roll is a good deal, while in your area it's considered expensive.

Your best best is to start keeping track of sales in your area and recording them in a price book. Here's an example:

Canada Post's website offers Comparison Shopper. It doesn't have everything, but it does have a fair bit.

I got different results when I tried that Can Post link. I 1st selected Halloween Costume Accessories, & choose a couples items & was just redirected to sites that sold them. For one item, a pair of shoes, it showed their price history for the last 5 months. Same thing when I picked dresses, just a price history. Not store price comparison. However with electronics, I chose cameras & got a price history, a listing of stores with prices, & even cross border comparison.
