Well,... first off- I don't think anywhere is really safe. When you think you're in a safe area you let down your guard and make yourself vulnerable to all sorts of crime.
There was a shooting at a mall in my area recently- and it came as a shock to me that it happened in early evening right in front of shoppers. But it didn't surprise me that it happened.

We have a house a couple down that we know for sure uses drugs and are pretty sure they are selling too. There are fights and yelling matches in the middle of the street all the time. Just a matter before someone gets really hurt.
I agree that we need to keep our guard up no matter where we are or what we are doing.

There are places worse then others that's for sure.
My area is pretty good. But like you said... there is never anywhere that is perfectly safe. I'd be seriously out of my mind if I thought that.

I used to think where I lived was safe, that was until we had a shooting a few block from our street...I don't think anywhere in particular is safe, because just about anything can happen.
