Hmm mine would definitely be those misty mints and my nanny's recipe for her "british trifle"
I'm pretty much the only one left in the family that can make it just the way she did. Brings back so many memories, and is just yummmmy.
I added a pic of it

oh Miss April. I could go for a bowl of trifle right now. My gran used to make it all the time. Just thinking about it makes me miss her.

My mom makes these too and they are the best! She has to hide them but sends me home with some, and yes I have had them for breakfast! LOLLast edited by miztia; Fri, Nov 18th, 2011 at 11:09 PM.

Love the After Eight Mint 'Sticks'. And of course you have to nibble them down like a mouse... No big bites... Just like when we were kids. One year my cousin and I stole the box and sat in a closet one Christmas doing this until the whole box was gone... Good memories come in a chocolate box!! LOL

it isn't a treat but it is so rare now at dinner on christmas because my grandma has dementia and can no longer bake or cook our beloved recipes..
i loved her cabbage rolls.homemade.she would make two kinds.one that was sour with red cabbage and one that was sweet and tomatoey with regular cabbage.mmm
then she would wrap them in bacon and pruscuitto? (sp)
i also loved coming home from school in the winter and she would have fresh jam tarts and snowman ginger cookies... (she lived across the street)
awww...i miss her cooking.christmas and thanksgiving have definitely suffered due to the loss of her recipes. my dad is a good cook who took over most but we all know there is something special she added...that wasnt in the recipe.we made her stuffing to a tee and it didnt taste the same...
