Ya know..it could have simply been a lil ole lady cleaning out her garage, basement, storage unit, unaware of the value of the comics.
I too would be very suspicious of the person claiming to be the RCMP, ask for a badge#/name and district office so you can verify who they are. If they don't give that much...tell them to go straight to h*** and shove it up their hairy A****. >(Check out my TRADE and WISH List

I agree 100%...the RCMP have bigger things to occupy themselves with other than found comic books, unlike whoever is emailing you . If it really was the RCMP, they'd be at your door already so don't worry about it. However, I'd completely ignore the emails you're receiving from this nutcase. I think what you did is wonderful...just be careful.

First of all, nice find!
Second of all, the person claiming they are from the "RCMP'... don't believe it for a milisecond! What is the email address they are using? $10 says it's yahoo.com, live.com or google.com or something like that. Having an actual RCMP email would go further to giving more credence to the person, although they can be easily "spoofed" as well.
I agree with the other poster who said to contact the RCMP yourself. They will quickly let you know if they sent it or not. If they didn't, they might want the original email complete with headers to trace down the person!
Whatever you do, be careful.. people will do anything to claim they are theirs!!!

I wouldn't even respond to the RCMP message.
If you do, they will have your email addy.
Realistically they would already have your info.
If it truely is the RCMP they will find you.Get free gift cards for amazon & paypal. I've earned $100's with the click of my mouse!

I think the rcmps email address would include something similar to other government employees (department name.gc.ca). Be wary of an official government sounding email that doesnt have the.gc.ca as part of their email address.

Why would the RCMP be searching the classified ads? Don't they have better things to do with our taxpayer dollars? LOL

Great find, if I have found it, dh would be all over it lol. Its great that you are trying to look for the original owner if it has been mistaken and thrown out. I highly doubt that RCMP would be looking through Kijiji ads, so be very careful. I agree with the other poster to not even email back as they might trace it or something. Have a great weekend!

You are being asked for information from someone impersonating the RCMP; they would not be surfing the classifieds to contact people.
In addition, they would NEVER ask you in text to provide them with personal information. The most they would do is give you a name of contact, a badge number and a number to call to get in touch with them.
You are being scammed by someone who knows the value of the comic books and intends on trying to convince you to give them up, or they want to steal them.
Honestly, take down your ad, let things settle down, and sell them off.
