Recertified = CRAP
Anyone who's ever worked as a tech at a warranty/repair centre that checks and repacks returned and/or defective electronics can tell you they're allocated only a few minutes to check and "recertify" each unit. Rarely can any fuctional problems be properly diagnosed and fixed in such a short timeframe. The business of repacking and reselling previously faulty electronics is more a game of statistical odds decided by the bean-counters in accounting than it is about actually selling properly repaired products (eg., if we just stick the garbage units in new boxes and call them "recertified" without actually fixing them, odds are we'll only get 3 units out of every 20 back again as faulty, and we'll refuse to fix 2 of those 3 claiming the failures were cause by factors outside the scope of our virtually worthless "service plan.")
Buy new, or buy nothing!
