Not sure if this is where this should be, not a brag, but I saw people posting about making hampers for shelters and families and thought I would post this link to help you know what is needed by certain size families.
Of course more than what they list can always be given!

This link is to our local xmas Cheer Boards list for items needed for food hampers for various sizes of families. http://www.christmascheerboard.ca/pdf/feed_a_family.pdf
I thought I would share so you could all have an idea as to what is needed by certain sizes of familes etc.
But of course always contact the agency you want to donate to too so you can get a family assigned to you.

PS: Don't forget about the seniors, some may be alone and it is hard for them to get out and about at this time of year.

When we are assigned a family at work to donate to, we call them if possible to ask for sizes, likes etc so we can make sure they get what they will use and also lots of other stuff inbetween.

The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

Thank you for posting. It's a really helpful list! The only thing that I disagreed with is that they said it was essential to purchase a gift for children 14 and under. I think teen-agers (15-18) often get forgotten at Christmas, so I would personally make sure to include a gift for that age group as well.

    I agree.
So I purchased jeans for boys age 12-16 when Old Navy had that wicked good deal earlier this year.
