i always thought it was because one trader is receiving stamps and the other is receiving coupons. Doesn't matter if its a newbie.
Maybe someone else can shed some light....

The stamp for extra postage is if it costs the person more than one stamp
Person A sends 5 stamps & uses 1 stamp for postage
Person B sends a pile of coupons that costs them 3 stamps for postage = they only really get 3 stamps from the 5 since it is costing them 2 more to mail

I'm not a newbie and I frequently trade for hand-picked coupons. Newbie or starter packs are usually just a variety of coupons, not hand-picked. I tend to agree with the premise that both people are using a stamp to complete the trade, so it does cancel each other out. However, that said, for $50 worth of hand-picked coupons that I know I can use, I will certainly include an extra stamp if it is requested. Most often, I find people are much more excited about receiving a GC than stamps, so that's the route I usually go.
So many coupons....so little time!

I love guys all your opinions about stamps and extra postage, In my case I left other traders hand picked their coupons from my list, sometimes I requested for an extra postage when the envie need three stamps or more, sometimes I offer an extra postage when I am getting a heavy envie, but I understand the postage stamp in the envie doesn't count in the trade because both parties are sending one stuck in the envelope.
Just my five cents of opinion ( five because cent is not existing anymore LoL )TL & WL : http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/399761-...hicken-canada/

$20-25 is usually where it starts getting more weight to the envie but not always, 5x $5 coupons would be lighter. Only you know which coupons you are trading, cardboard cutouts weigh more, some coupons are bigger etc.
What I usually do is stick the envie on my kitchen scale and see if it will cost me more to send and tell the person "it weighs 45g so will take an extra stamp" and ask them to include it - before agreeing on the trade.
So it would be 5 if the coupons weigh less than 30g (which stamps or a GC would) or 6 stamps if over 30g. Most people cut out coupons to reduce weight where possible

I don't mind that ratio of stamps for tear pad coupons but don't think I will be using it against secure pintable's as there are higher costs associated of printing (paper, ink, and time) in comparison of a tear pad. First post honestly is very confussing... to what you say now. Here you say the more coupons you send out the more stamps would be required for weight but in your first post the higher the value in coupons sent the smaller the ratio for stamps... makes little sense.... while gc value stays constant. I trade for stamps usually as a last result when theres no other coupons available.... I honestly would prefer $25 in coupons for $25 in coupons and use my own saving on groceries to pick up the 4 stamps I would have gained. But did stamps to so that the trader doesn't get turned away from the coupons they need...

Would you value a $10 similac cheque more then x2 $5 maxx scoop or they even in value?
Correct me if I am wrong but the cheque can be used along with a coupon since the cheque is cash not a coupon.
So it would be considered a higher value then just a reg $10 coupon?
