I'm not a huge fan of the plum rewards program. It's hard to earn points, and they aren't worth much when you manage to earn them.

I agree, it's hard to accumulate them.
It's only worth to shop in special Plum events, I find. There was one in my store 2-3 month ago, for every 3 books purchased you got base points plus 2500 bonus pts. That was instant 5$ off.

I think you get a member discount when you purchase online and the points (no member discount) when you purchase in store. The extra discount online sometimes makes things cheaper than amazon particularly if you also have a $5 off code too.

I've been an irewards member for years and didn't switch to the plum points program when they brought it out. For the amount of money you need to spend to accumulate enough points to save any decent money (this is base points, not bonus offers), it's just not worth it. I buy a ton of books from chapters/indigo (I'm a teacher), so I prefer to pair my irewards discount with other in-store offers to save me the most money upfront when I shop.

You can have one card or the other-chain does not allow a person to participate in both programs at same time. Since Plum Rewards are free and points can accumulate from purchases other than books, I signed up this spring as my iRewards card lapsed some years ago.
