I spent (wasted?) a lot of time at Zellers this afternoon trying to find:
a.) something I needed (another poster had said that she had bought sale sheets for 50% off -so I went for those.
    Stood in line.
Then I was told that I could not buy Sale products at the 50% - ok - I hadn't read the update
b.) something I needed for which I had a coupon so I could get more than 50% off. I have a $5 off coupon for Osteo-Biflex which is expensive but it does really work for my arthritic knees.
    Stood in line.
Then I was told that I could not use a coupon with the 50% off - as it said "the 50% was not to be combined with any other "deal"".
She said, "It always works like that."
I replied, " It doesn't, actually. But I'll use the 50% off coupon."
Then she asked me for the "code word" - kiddingly - but I wasn't not impressed - "Cucumber" said I with a smile.
I've always said, "You either spend TIME or MONEY." This time I spent BOTH.
I'm happy with the purchase, though.

Were you really prepared to take legal action against Zellers?

Probably not.. it sure rustles a lot of feathers when you mention you have a lawyer or contacts in the media

Absolutely, I would have no problem paying a lawyer to draft a letter on my behalf. I was pretty certain it wouldn't go that far though. Companies are quick to cover their tracks when you mention lawyers or media.

a letter would just be a waste of a couple of hundred bucks.

a federal agency's inquiry is what would be more realistic.

I plan to go to Zellers to use the coupon ... but later decide not to go (because I have a bad experience in one store already in this week), so only waste some ink in printing the coupon ...

what exactly do you people think that you will accomplish by following through with all of the things you're talking about? do you think they care about legal action? they will be closed in the next year.. the only thing this coupon fiasco affected was their bottom line... give it up and move on already..

Zellers is already owned by Target. This is what to expect from Target.
