I have the standard, no fee air miles credit card but don't accumulate many miles...I read something online that TD Bank has a good reward card where you get points for much less.
Just wondering what you feel is the best deal in terms of rewards for credit cards.
Thanks gang and a belated Happy New Year! This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Depends what you want for a reward. Where do you shop? I like PC Mastercard because you get $20 in groceries for every $2000 you spend on your card. Planning to switch over my bill paying to that card too so I can get better rewards than my other credit card.

I would judge based on value of the 'reward' vs. the fee you pay for having the card. will you use the rewards enough that you will at least break even after paying your annual fee? (also sometimes cards that charge you fees will give you better interest rates!)
if you think it will be worth that money than I'd say go for it! some of the rewards cards have awesome points systems, and there is no shortage to choose from!!Getting back into trading - see my Trade and Wish Lists (under 'About Me' tab)

I like my Canadian Tire Mastercard. No annual fee, low interest rate for a credit card and I get CT money on my purchases. We go there for gas a lot so it works for me.
It really does depend on exactly what rewards you are looking for and if you are comfortable paying an annual fee or higher interest.

Where do you do the bulk of your banking?
My gold AM mastercard costs around $80/yr. BUT I get free account services at BMO, a 25% bonus on my airmiles for keeping a certain amount in my assorted bank accounts. The free banking returns at least $48/yr of the fee to me.
So, it's what you do overall that affects the viability of the account.

If you carry a balance, reward cards probably aren't for you. The interest rates are often high, and will probably cancel out any benefit you'd get.
I have an RBC Avion Visa, I use it a lot to get Futureshop GCs.
Just curious.
Are you able to pay utility, cable, internet bills by credit card?
Thanks.[/QUOT
You can pay cable/phone/internet bills by credit card. No utility bills
My personal favourite rewards card is PC mastercard. I only use it for all my purchases and pay it off every month. I receive about $300 back in groceries every year
Thanks for replying.
Just reading our phone/internet bill (we don't have cable - big fight with the company - long story).
Quote phone/internet bill wording: "Bill payment options: Payments can be made by pre-authorized bank withdrawal, at most banks and trust companies, by cheque in the mail or at designated 'Big Company' depositories. If paying in person at bank or trust company, please present entire bill."
Sooo...
Pay by credit card?
I'm still confused.
But that's easy to do.
Just did a bit of research.
Yes, you are right - pay online through the company's website.
Utility bills can be paid online with a credit card too - using Canada Post's ePost. I saw Bell, Rogers, Telus, Hydro One and Direct Energy.
O.k.
Soooo, I learned something today.

CIBC Visa deposits money on your card at the end of each year, depending on how much you have spent in the year. I use mine a fair bit and end up with about $300 given back to me. No annual fee.
