Hello guys,
DH and I are planning a trip to Europe for 30days to see friends and family
and as we now have a toddler I really want to get travel insurance.
Any advice and tips on what to get and where the best rate?
Thanks in advance
Sincerely LIVE SIMPLE

Travel Underwriters will probably be the most reasonable quote. The insurance is from Industrial Alliance.
The basic rates are $2.89 per day & is based on the <40yrs age of the eldest member in family (you, DH & toddler).
Here's their rate card: https://www.travelunderwriters.com/p...nt.b2b?pa=5839
You can call them directly; or contact me if you need any further info..

It depends on what you mean by Travel Insurance.
If you mean out of country medical and health coverage, you or you significant other may already have extended coverage available through your employer which in turn would also cover your toddler as a dependant.
If not, then you might want to check with CAA as they have annual coverage available for pretty good rates and they offer coverage from 7-30 days out of the country. This is probably a better deal if you are going to be away at least more than once a year and much cheaper than buying single trip coverage. The last time I good advantage, my annual premium was about $85 (give or take a few bucks).
If you're looking for theft coverage of your property while you're away, your homeowner's policy should cover your property anywhere in the world subject to your deductible.
It might be worth your while to convert your credit cards to provide some travel coverage at the end of the day. Have you checked with your credit card company about this? Again, it comes down to dollars and cents and some elbow grease.
Happy trails!!

Travel insurance like trip cancellation insurance etc is pretty straihgtforward .
But when it comes to medical overseas insurance be careful as lot of pre-existing conditions won't be covered or will be covered with lot of restrictions , waivers etc ...like no change in medication , has to be stable for 90 days etc .
Read the pre-existing conditions waivers , restrictions , exclusions very carefully ..they will sell you the insurance but when you make a claim they will use every excuse in the book to not pay you & say that you lied on the application etc . So fill up the questions very carefully or even ask your family doctor to go through the application.

I sold travel insurance or a few years. Be very careful with any insurance included in credit cards. They have alot of exclusions, and are worded trickily. They often find ways that whatever claim you're making invalid.

True .
Even common things like diabetes , high blood pressure & cholestrol are considered to be pre-existing conditions . If you just go to doctor & get your blood pressure checked they consider it as test for high blood pressure .
Lot of these insurances are post- claims underwriting , which is the worst form of insurance ..they will use every excuse in the book to deny you coverage once you make a claim .

Make sure your insurance also cover trip interruption! Many companys do not cover this. It would cover anything that may affect you going on your trip. Ex. Car accident on the way to the airport.
