Dobbsie -- Great that you removed the referral link from the body of the post. :-) Keeps an even playing field for people hoping to find referrals and prevents posts with 500 referral links ...
If anyone wants the scoop on dropbox - PM me - been using it for 2+ years and migrated 3 computers in that time so have some "best practices" etc to recommend.
;) Oh, and I'm happy to send you a referral link for Dropbox too if you're interested.
What's a referral link?
It's a link that has a code that says "who sent you" so that you can get a bonus or credit or points. The site rewards you for finding new users. You'll see lots of people have referral links for sites in this signature files. How much does the referral pay? It depends on the site -- sometimes 25 cents in points, sometimes $12 in points IF you become an active user.
Is it good to use a referral link or do I just sign up
directly?
I'd say pay it forward:angel: - give someone a boost by using their link. It doesn't change what you earn and it helps out another Smart Canucker. Why not lend a helping hand?
Hopefully good karma will follow you and someone will use a link of yours or vote for you on facebook for a contest.
For example, I was joining ebates and it gives a $5 or $10 referral bonus, so I didn't see anyone with a "referral link" so just asked in the swagbucks thread and sure enough someone sent me an invite.
