I heard (rumour) that Giant Tiger is moving into WalMarts old Eastgate location.

The new store will be next to Home Depot, on Centennial Parkway.

Barton Street and Centennial Parkway is the major intersection. Route 2 Barton bus goes by there, for anyone using transit. No bus goes up Centennial Parkway except during the summer when the Confederation Park bus is on duty.

I saw Hamilton Transit build a bus stop close to the new Walmart so I think its going to be the Barton bus that will go down to the new location.

Pro-shoppers can get to the site without a massive hike along Centennial Parkway north of Eastgate Square.

Con-during a heavy rain, the road will likely flood the underpass, just as it happens on Kenilworth Ave. N. under the railway bridge there.

Mystery will be if the stop is for the Barton-2 (year-round) or only for the Confed. Park-56 route (summer and weather dependant, as route stops operating if weather goes stormy).

When Walmart opened in Burlington they had Burlington Transit put a stop outside despite being a short walk from the GO bus stop so I imagine it would be a permanent year around stop for the 2

This week the two groups announced a settlement with Smart Centres that requires the developer to build a sidewalk along the east side of Centennial Parkway, install bus layovers, and provide up to $50,000 a year to the HSR for four years to facilitate transit service to the commercial complex. The groups’ media release says the OMB-approved settlement also re-converts “a portion of the lands” to employment (industrial) purposes.

I imagine if they are paying $200k over 4 years they will have regular bus service

I went to visit the WM store today and they brought in more clearance stuff over and heard that bedding & towels are going for clearance. I am waiting to see what specials they are having - so far dishwasher tabs Finish, Kitty Litter - will have to make a list.
