Thread: Points awarded to wrong account!
-
Wed, Jan 11th, 2012, 12:03 PM #1
I was in a SDM along the 401 (ON) somewhere and when I checked my receipt the Optimum Points had been awarded to some other account (my card was scanned).
I mean way off - my account starts with a 7 and the account that got them starts with an 8!
It was only 50 points but I would like to know what happened....This thread is currently associated with: Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart

I remember before I got an optimum card, the cashier scanned her own card that she had on a band around her wrist. Maybe something similar happened.

This is the main reason "I REACH OVER THE SCANNER AND SCAN MY OWN CARD" everytime.

That sounds fishy. I think you should let head office know. They should be able to track the number and fire the cashier if they are stealing points.

This is what happened to me on monday!!!! I posted my story under the 8000 bonus points thread. I had to return everything & then they rang it through again under my card. It was a huge hassle. I was at the till for at least 30 minutes. The till froze at one point when she was trying to correct a price that was incorrect. Had to reboot & start all over. The cashier had no clue why someone's card # came up in the first place. Maybe it was a computer error?? Who knows. But I learned my lesson to always look at the screen, you card # (3 #'s are blocked out) should come up in the right hand corner. I was at SDM today & looked for my correct # as soon as she scanned my card.
Has this happened to anyone else besides us?

Hhmmm.....Shoppers is not doing too good in my books right now if that's the case lol! I'll put them right up there with Zellers...
I don't think that's happened to me, but I never thought to look. I'll pay closer attention now!

I read every single one of my receipts before I even leave the store to make sure the points are correct.
I hate getting home & having to go back, or make calls to fix anything - so I save myself the time no matter how busy I am to just check before leaving.

With the new system, what I found (at work), was that if you scanned a customer's optimum card more than once on a transaction, it carried over to the next transaction. I believe that this is a glitch in the new system, and hopefully they will fix it very soon.
I would hope that this is what had happened, and that the cashier wasn't stealing your optimum points. Also, if he/she were using their own personal card, you would see their name pop-up on the screen, indicating that it was a "staff" purchase.
