I have never seen the grain free Salmon one at Costco....so glad I came back to this article. Going to go have a look at it and compare to what I have right now. I like what he is on at the moment, but if Costco has something similar for half the price I will be a

I have heard though, that the Kirkland food is very high in sodium. I am switching my animals all over to Blue Buffalo limited ingredient formula.

I tried switching my Shepperd to one of the "all natural no filler" blends, he lost an insane amount of weight and never had a solid poop.
Kirkland Chicken & Rice Nutrition and Ingredients
Choline Chloride - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choline_chloride
Chicken Meal - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_meal
I really don't know what the "Meat Meal" deal is. Chicken Meal, is actually a significantly better processing process, as it's just dried, ground up chicken, a lot of it is parts that people wouldn't normally eat, but some people still do - hearts, livers, etc.. and these chicken parts are actually higher in nutrients and iron then breast, legs, thighs that people normally eat. If you're worried about Chicken Meal, look into Mechanically Separated Chicken made for human consumption that is in a large amount of food you probably eat daily and wouldn't even know. MSM is when they turned an entire chicken carcass into paste, soak it in ammonia to rid it of any bacteria and cook it up and ship it out. So, if you're eating a hot dog, and are feeding your dog something with Chicken Meal, your furry friend actually has the better mealLast edited by PinkLincoln; Sat, Jan 21st, 2012 at 04:03 PM.

I feed my dogs Purina One & our vet was very happy with that. He said it's the best dog food available in Moose Jaw. How many kg is Kirkland? Thier ingredients list looks pretty similar.
I am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.
If you have any to trade please PM me.

Our old dog used to be able to eat pretty much anything, but our new puppy has a very sensitive tummy!
We tried her on Puppy Chow, as well as a different brand at Walmart (in a brown bag from England I think)...she puked day in and day out! I went to the pet store and found this brand called Natural Balance (blue bag, a little pricey) and she thrived on it! Then last time I was there, I found Nutrience on sale (expired at the end of the month, but it's still good for a while after the date because it's sealed)...We got a 20lb bag for $10!!!!!! Can't beat that deal!! She loves it, and my bank account does too!

Purina One tends to use corn in it still (low nutrient high calorie food stuffs). Vets don't know much about food and it's mostly biased. My vet told me put my cat on Purina One and I told her I was putting my cat on a better quality food and she just stared at me. What an odd woman she was.

Yeah there is still corn in it but there's also meat in it. Our vet is awesome, they never try to sell us crap or recomend bad products. And like I said the best one we can buy in Moose Jaw. If I wanted to drive all the way to Regina plus spend $40 more per bag I could get better food but as much as I love my kids, uh...I mean dogs...I can't afford to spend that much on them.
Surprisingly the best catfood I've found here is Meow Mix but I have to feed our cat crappy food otherwise she eats too fast & gets sickI am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.

I find the Kirkland dog food and cat food to be awesome. Compared it to the dog food that my in-laws use, which is vet recommended, supposed to be all natural and so forth, and the ingredient list is almost exactly the same, in the same order. But they pay $80 for a bag of their food.

My dog (golden) is on Core by Wellness. There is no grain or by products in it.She is allergic to fish. So she stays on the chicken. Also added TD for her teeth . Both are extremely exspensive but I feel that is the cost of having a pet. She also needs a fruit of veggie every day she is super...as u can tell...her pic is everywhere good luck finding one

Im giving a link here. It's a great tool for comparing dog food brands.
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
just type in the brand name of the food at the top and it will pull up a nutritional break down.
I don't feed my dog any food containing grain...especially corn.
He's on Orijen...pricey but I trust the company (unlike others that fell under that whole Diamond food recall fiasco!!), it's Canadian and guaranteed.
but i found that dog review site to be a great tool!
I would love to try raw feeding though....just too nervous to do it!

I went to Costco and bought the Nature's Domaine Salmon formula. My Lab has been on it for about a month now, and I would like to report that he has not had any reaction to the switch in the food. His BMs are good, his coat is nice and healthy looking, his is not scratching all the time and does not have rashes like he got from all of the other foods he was eating. The food was the same price as the Purina stuff ($35ish a bag if I remember correctly) so I am keeping him on this. I am very pleased with it and the price is right.

I picked up a bag of the Lamb and Rice one from Costco. It's been about a month now, and i've been mixing it 50/50 with the remaining Purina One that he had. He hasnt had any funny reactions with his bathroom "functions" so far. he loves the taste. I want to give it about another month to make sure that his skin rash doesnt come back, but so far so good! There is Chicken Fat in the Lamb variety, so i wasnt sure if that would affect him or not.
Thanks everyone for the awesome opinions.
