Has anyone done this? Hubby and I have considered doing this as we are expecting in the next 7 weeks and want to save money.

One of my friend is big on organic and natural and that's what she does. I even had one of my caregiver using wet toilet paper. Why not! Wipes can be expensive and now we know, toxic!
Indeed!! All those points are what intrigued me! I've been looking at recipes but can't seem to find out if there is any recipes that mention how long one batch lasts. I want to make them in bulk but not if they are not going to last more than two weeks.Quote:

So happy to read some Mommies on here don't use store bought or homemade wipes. Very mind opening and I forgot about that option too :)
I would suggest purchasing some fabric (flannel and velour work best) Cut squares out of the fabric, pin two together and either surge the ends or sew them together and turn them inside out as though you were making a pillow case. When using them you can wet them with a solution/spray babies bottom with the solution, or run them under hot water and wring them out.
My friend made a big bottle of solution for me, but you can also buy wipe solution I believe. There was oil to help keep the skin soft, soap to remove traces of urine and feces, essential oil which is optional... and only used for antibacterial or aromatherapy... and then water which is obviously the main ingredient as it helps dilute everything else.
I stopped using them once I ran out of solution. I started stacking for huggies wipes. while the cloth wipes were free and a great option, I stayed with the huggies because they were more convenient. I didn't have 24/7 access to washing machines and my dog would dig through the dirty laundry to eat the poop off of them even after they were rinsed off. :rant: LOL.
I use washcloths. Run under warm water. Works better then wipes. I also use cloth diapers, so I just toss in my diaper pail. Disposable wipes and cloth diapers are a pain together! lol
i cut a roll of paper towel in half. put the cut side down in a tall tupperware. I take hot water, a bit of baby shampoo, a few drops of tree tree oil and dump it over top. let it soak for a few, and then the paper roll in the middle will come right out. just pull them one at a time from the middle! they only take a few seconds to make, so i dont worry about making them in bulk!
If you are up for the little investment- I bought micro fibre towels and kept them wet in my wipes warmer. The micro fibre is naturally anti bacterial, unlike other fabrics. And as they are a bit tacky- they really clean up the unpleasant stuff well. And my little one really appreciated the wipes warmer temp! :) I toss them in a separate cycle in the hottest wash.

i never used wipes with my kids, i don't like them ,they cause horrible rash!
am a strong believer in water and mild soap for the baby ,and never have to deal with rash .
I bought the 30 pack of wash cloths at Zellers for $10 and use those with some water in a peri bottle. Just wet them as you need them. I have a second peri bottle and the washcloths (in a travel Pampers wipes case) in the diaper bag. Works awesome so far :)
