Kijiji

I like Kijiji..actually, I may be addicted lol..I just don't like finding something when I have no vehicle :(
Right now, I am looking for bookshelves for my children and a dishwasher for me. Oh and a queen size bedframe.

I have always has good luck with Kijiji in selling and buying as well. couple of time there were no shows as well but it really didn;t bother me. I have sell baby stuff such as crib, beddings, clothes, stroller, small appliances and bought tons of stuff as well. I like it

I dont recall buying or selling anything on kijiji, but do go and browse it from time to time.

We have advertised for employees and have had success.

We also found a painter to paint our house on kijiji.

I like Kijiji. I've had only good experiences and found every single one of my daycare kids through kijiji... I give it 2 thumbs up :)

I have sold 3 vehicles, new & old, a couch, elliptical machine, golf bag, tires, dog kennel, rabbit cage, bird cage, potty, diapers, and more on Kijiji. I've never had trouble with no-shows, but I always email before talking on the phone and then confirm appointment. I've found house cleaners on Kijiji, but that never worked out very well. Currently have a stroller, bouncy chair, and new in box DVD player listed on Kijiji. No one seems to want these at the moment, but spring may change people's minds.

Dec and Jan are the hardest times to make sales.

Third times is the charm I guess. I finally got rid of the dog crate and they didn't even try to bargain with me. I may have to start listing more items as I am not really working. Every bit helps and I guess if I am home most of the day now it won't really matter. It will only be a mild annoyance.

Now that I think of it half of my furniture is from Kijiji, that is how I found my dog groomer, and my summer job. I think if people had to pay for listings it would suck. It is kind of funny because I think in the US Craigslist is much more popular. I don't even bother with it because there is nothing ever there!

I found our 15 year old his first real job on kijiji. I help my kids look for work. They have had the most luck responding to ads on kijiji.

The only thing I don't like is some employers do not post good ads i.e. hours of work,and hourly rate. It saves a lot of time if they do. Some will respond if you ask via the kijiji e-mail but not all.

The job bank is better but not all employers use it plus the ads come in on kijiji faster. The kind of work they get time makes a difference as employers are looking to fill quickly.

We also found our dog on kijiji as someone was looking for temporary boarding then decided she could not move with the dog. She is such a wonderful dog and so loved.

We have sold things like weights and given away some stuff. I agree don't wait around for people and don't hold stuff especially if you are giving it away.

I just recently signed up on Kijiji as I had to sell my futon fast. I was quite inexperienced but it was a good learning experience for me. I also had experience purchasing something off Kijiji (baby cuddly wrap) and it was a great one - the seller was very friendly and once I contacted her, it was easy to make plans to pick it up.

I haven't really gotten into Kijiji yet so I can't really say much :)

As a precaution since it is the net, if selling or buying I suggest meeting at the local mall or I have my husband at home or come with.

It is the net and you do not know the other person...shades of Mark Twitchell...the man that pretended to be a woman and lured a guy into a garage and murdered him.

We bought our car this way and the woman had us meet her at the local ESS0 the first time.

I have never felt unsafe about making transactions. I am too lazy to drive into the city for a couple of bucks. Besides my my ferocious 17lb and 30lb dogs (who let our car get stolen outside our bedroom window at our last house) will surely protect me.

So I saw an ad for Vintage Hat bought in New York. I emailed them and asked for the label and content. They gave me a name but weren't sure what it was made of. They gave me a name and when I looked it up it was for an old dept that was in Washington. I thought it odd. Then I got an email back and was asked if I was still interested. I offered $15 as opposed to the original $30. They agreed. I picked it up today and the label clearly says Woodwards. It is an interesting hat and worth $15 but I wouldn't have bought it if I was in a store and there were other choices.

I can't get over such a lie!. It was obviously bought here in Canada, probably here in Edmonton as Woodwards was Canadian. I can't believe the name they made up actually was a department store in the US. Maybe they were told it was from New York but there is no way you can mistake the White tag with Woodwards on it. What a waste of a drive.

By the way if anyone has vintage hats, clothes 40's 50's (pref), or jewelry. Let me know. Actual vintage has more character than todays replica. If only I had a 26" or a 24" waist I would be able to wear so much more of it!

I have sold a washer and dryer on kijiji and it was totally effortless. I actually tried to give it away first to St Vincent de Paul and they said it wasn't worth their picking up on account of it being 6 years old. (I WAS FLOORED) Anyway, I stuck it on kijiji for 100$ for the set and it was spoken for that next day, and the pick up was on time.
I have also bought a couple items on kijiji too. Some for other people, some for myself. I dont fart around with nickel and diming people either- if the price is not reasonable, then don't bother- keep looking. I got a beautiful all leather lazy boy recliner for 350$, and our family dog from kijiji too. A wonderful lady from Leduc does small rescues from Hobbema (spelling?), and she listed 6 puppies on a thursday and they were gone by thursday night. Our luck is someone no-showed and we got our girl!! Wooo hoooo for us!!
I will def. continue to use kijiji for purchasing items, but wouldn't bother with selling anything unless significant valuable.

Found all my rain barrels on Kijiji and on a separate occasion a seller left something for me on his doorstep as he was away and I just left the money in his mailbox!

Kijiji is a great place to find jobs. The government of canada job bank is also helpful but it takes a while for a job to be posted whereas with kijiji it is immediate.
