hum ok why not... I don't chop and freeze my onion... I just avoid to put them in the same area than the potato!!! Onion are ok for a long period at room temperature or a little bit lower.
And I have a drawer of one of my fridge just for onion (less tears when I chop cold onion then room temperature onion )Liberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

I freeze almost all my cheap in season vegy, small for soups and some bigger for rosts or to mash up. Keeps me from buying in winter when they are more expensive, tastless or from buying frozen ready prepared.
