My son had bad rash as a baby. Had three different doctor creams. I used a cream with calendula in it and it cleared up. I used the cool setting on hair dryer to dry him a bit before I put it on.

Should clarify that none of the doctor creams worked. The calendula is around $20 at bosom babies. But worth it.

Thank you very much. I've given the mom all the suggestions including taking her back to the doctor. Hopefully things will clear up. I know the baby is in pain but I also feel horrible every time I have to change her diaper and she screams

    Thanks again.

I agree with cutting out all juice especially orange juice. As well as no wipes and air drying.

It sounds the rash needs to seen by a skin specialist rather than medicentre or emergency doc. Mom should be taking baby to her regular doc. and asking for referral.

I've used it from day one with my son upon her suggestion and haven't had a problem. I'd also buy a small pack of Pampers and see if that makes any difference.
As a mom of 5, I was very happy when I found that cream. It works wonders!

When my son had a bad diaper rash that was yeast related, we were told by the pediatrician to try Canesten cream and it cleared it right up. Maybe try that? Walmart used to sell a spray that worked awesome on my son's bottom, it was called Little One For Baby Bums but they stopped selling it a while back...

My last baby got baad diaper rashes all the time. She was such a rashy kid, unlike my 2 older kids who very rarely were rashed.

If the baby is taken to the doctor he will 99% prescribe "clotrimazole". It goes by the brand name of canesten so you can buy it over the counter.
The rash will be gone right away!

The only bum ointment that worked for us with diaper rashes was Burt's Bees. It is more expensive but you don't need to use as much. You usually see it still on the baby's bum next diaper change. Most other brands I tried wiped off on the diaper or disapeared somewhere by the next change.

I have used the Ishle's cream - Works great! But if it is still part of the yeast infection - don't use corn starch use baby powder with the cream. If you talk to the pharmacist they will tell you what to mix for the yeast infection - half the canestan cream and half something else. Poor baby!

It's half canesten and half Glaxo base....(sis is a pharmacist) for yeast. If there is another type of infection then a topical antibiotic is added to the mix.

My lil one has allergies and had bum rashes all the time. I agree with a couple of previous posters. Corn starch OR Ihle's Paste. Ihle's paste contains corn starch AND it works wonders. It is the ONLY cream I will use for my daughter. You can get a honkin tub of it at shoppers for around $10 and its a really good size. Definitely worth the cost.

Air dry that little backside as much as possible. Try Polysporin for Kids which contains Lidocaine( a GREAT numbing agent) or Xylocaine( which is a 5% Lidocaine ointment). And take that child to a doctor if the mother cannot.
