Crest Mouthwash/Oral-B Floss coupon interpretation...

First of all, I AM SO MAD.
Basically St. Vital Wal-mart would not let me get the FREE floss after purchasing the mouthwash with the other SEPERATE coupon, as they thought it was stacking. Spoke with a manager right at the til, and she said no and argued that I needed to "pair" the mouthwash with the floss coupon in order to get the floss free, and that I had already USED a coupon for the mouthwash and i can't use ANOTHER coupon for the mouthwash AND floss. It made NO sense.
The floss coupon says this: free oral b floss when you buy any crest pro health mouthwash. soooo, i bought the mouthwash with its own seperate coupon, and am trying to use this coupon for the FLOSS only, not the mouthwash again....
Has anyone else had issues??? I have used them before...no problem. YET AGAIN, it depends what cashier you go to yadda yadda yadda.... But seriously, THIS ISN'T STACKING. I AM SO MAD. told her I would be calling head office because other managers have allowed it and it is not stacking, and she said thats fine.
Then as I was picking up my coupons laying on the counter to put them back in my pocket, the cashier has the nerve to say, well i can still ring in the mouthwash with your coupons I'm like, are you serious? I said, uhh no. I will just use them all at another location...

that's too bad! I hate it when they make you feel like you're stealing when using coupons! keep us updated with what HO says!

I just felt bad for the people behind me!! I tried explaining it every way I could, but they BOTH kept repeating you can't double up on coupons!!! HOW IS IT DOUBLING with 2 SEPERATE coupons???! But they woudlnt' have any of it.
I don't even know if I will contact head office, I'm not good explaining things over the phone and it will take a while to write up a proper email....
but this does pi$$ me off.

Wouldn't it in a way be stacking as you are using 2 coupons for one offer? If you're using a coupon for the mouth wash and another coupon to get the Floss for free .... as the floss coupon says you have to buy xx to get yy ....
Please correct me if I am wrong cuz then I'd love to get my hands on this coupon lol

I hear ya! That walmart did the same thing to my sister. We had just started couponing (very 1st trip out in fact) and we didn't know any better so she took just the crest rinse but now she's kicking herself. 3 other Walmarts (And a Zellers - which actually had the rinse for $.99 Woohoo! A Penny overage! ) that we've been to all accepted them without a problem. She thinks that maybe that walmart has problems with people trying to stack coupons all the time because it's right near the London Drugs, which does allow stacking. And because of this the staff is a little over vigilant.... but that's just a guess...
Anyway, good for you walking away without getting the rinse. My sister wishes she'd done the same.

My thought was why does it matter if i used a coupon on the mouthwash or not? So i buy the mouthwash with the mouthwash coupon. great, its in the bag. Then i go to get the free floss with a totally DIFFERENT coupon ON THE FLOSS - not the mouthwash. Stacking is when you use 2 coupons on the SAME product. The floss one says, FREE floss when you buy the mouthwash, soooo just because i used a COUPON on the mouthwash, I can't use a another different coupon to get the floss?

Anyways, i just cannot see it as stacking at all.

The coupons were in the P&G Brandsaver and I know I'm still new but the way I see it, the coupons are being applied to different products. The $1 off coupon goes to the rinse and the FPC goes towards the floss. You can't take the 'get a free floss' coupon and lay it down against the rinse, it has no value - that to me says its not stacking.

...does that make any sense to anyone other than me? :lolsign:

I guess I can see it being understood both ways...I always looked at it as you would be using 2 coupons for one ...not necessarily stacking ...but since the one coupon says you have to buy the wash to get the floss I though you could only use the one coupon and not 2 together ...if that makes sense.
I guess it is one of those coupons it just depends on the person and how they understand it...as it can obviously be understood multiple ways :s

Its not even the fact that I desperately needed these products asap, its the fact they thought it was stacking that made me mad. God, I'll just ask the dental hygenist for an extra floss when I go for my cleaning, instead of going through that stupid hassle again that did nothing but waste my time.

Yup, no else gave us any problems. In fact, most cashiers were quite impressed with us using the 2 coupons together!

WOW. now THAT is a cashier that you want to go back to and make sure you remember her name!!! Those cashiers are rare to find. I mean, can't we all be happy for one another when we find a great deal? And not get all huffy and puffy and interrigate us as to where we got all the coupons from? LOL

I know! We got the huffy, irritated cashier at Safeway the other day, not fun.

I had a similar issue at superstore (hamburger helper and ground beef) but when I went to walmart I was able to use a coupon off my special K and the free bars WUB cereal.

why wouldn't they accept the hamburger one?

I remember trying something similar before using a coupon for one and then a FPC for another item and it was a no-can-do at the WM in Selkirk. I told them that I was able to this at another WM, but the CSM said to me that you won't be doing that here.
