Target can't handle being two floors? LOL

There is something in their floor plan requlations about two floors. DH is in the local trades and was hoping they would build in the south end so he could bid on the contract, so he has seen the store specs and there was something about Target not being two stories - I wish I could remember more but this was before the Zellers buy out by at least 1 year. We are still hoping to see one in the south end of Barrie but haven't heard much since the buy out.

Supposedly, one of the first ones to be converted in our area is two floors, but it's in a mall. Perhaps that's different?

Target may only use one floor of the two stories - not sure really just going by what DH said about the specs, I really wish the Zellers in Barrie was becomming a Target.

I was to the zellers in Orillia today and asked the cashier if they would be liquidating any of their stock and she said they would but not until June or July. There were a few things on clearance today but mostly things left over from winter and Christmas stock.

Thanks everyone for your comments and discussion! Nice to see some investigative work has paid off and we're becoming more clear on where the deals may pop up. As others have said, even if your store isn't liquidating there are deals to be found "off the beaten path" in the stores so please keep and eye out for those and let us know!

I've chosen not to disclose where the little birdie works as I don't want anyone to get into trouble. I will be checking out 3 Zellers stores this week and will update if I find/hear anything. Went out to one this week but it was just the regular flyer deals and advertised clearance deals.

Looks like the coutdown will be on for a while as some stores aren't closing 'til the summer. That works well, it'll give us a chance to rest between sales and make room for more stuff!

I have a suggestion for this thread, why not start posting what you find on clearance in the stores. Toys/shoes etc.....
There's always toys/shoes on clearance at my Zellers.
From what I heard many of the stores closing sales won't happen until May BUT there will be lots of stuff on clearance until then.

The two London Zellers that are converting to Target stores are 2 storey.

both our stores aren't turning into Target. only one is the Westmount location. I think. or Masonville.. I do know that the Northland mall location is turning into a WM. which kind im not sure. I do know they've been doing ALOT of work on it in the last few weeks, on the roof. not sure what they are doing. what it means. hubby says maybe they have to return the store to its original condition they received it in before they hand it over to the city to give to WM?

Both in aurora and newmarket (upper canada mall) in ontario zellers will turn into target. I live in aurora and an so excited that we will have target soon here. I always hated zellers anyways.

This store is closing too and is to be replaced with a Walmart.

Currently they have several clothing racks at 50% off the last REDUCED price. I bought jeans for my kids for $3.50!!! They also have BOGO on reduced footwear. Lots of deals.

Their liquidation(which an employee told me IS going to happen at this location), starts March 2 and runs until June when they close. They will be honouring coupons as far as I know but will not guarantee rain checks on advertised deals in the flyer.

Just FYI....
