I'm looking to take my 12 & 15 year old on a March Break getaway. I want to keep in under $1500 for us all, including everything, and head some place warm.
Anyone have any suggestions? My online searching isn't coming up with much. This thread is currently associated with: N/AClick here under "about me" to view my wish list.

We go to Fargo, North Dakota most spring breaks. (It's usually a few degrees warmer there!) Why not do a little cross-border shopping getaway somewhere close to you? Stay at a hotel with a waterslide and nice pool facility. Teens are sure to like that, and you can spend part of that $1500 on spring clothing for them.

Thanks for the suggestion Minou...although Abby5 is right. My kids are past the waterslide stage unless they are huge ( like adult size)....but I've never looked into North Dakota so will see what that has. Certainly something different. Cross border shopping is something we do about once a month & I border Port Huron, Michigan in the lower thumb. To go to North Dakota would be a bit of a hike but a brand new adventure! Thanks MINOU!...
Other suggestions welcome too

It's not anything warmer, but you can get some really, really cheap deals for entertainment, etc. if you go to Detroit. DH and I did a road trip from Ottawa to Thunder Bay and back via Detroit. We stayed in a really, really nice hotel in Detroit for $40 (a weeknight), got discounted tickets to go to the Ford museum and some of the other attractions around the area, and found lots of cheap places to eat. Frankly, although it sounds a bit awful, pick somewhere to go that's economically depressed and you're likely to stumble upon some bargains!

I just did a quick search for you on hotwire, I wasnt sure if "all of us" meant you and your two kids or a hubby too so I search for 4 people into Tampa from Detroit and I see a decent 2 1/2 star hotel for under 1400. Keep in mind that is no food and no car, I looked at the 12th to the 16th but all you have to do is plug in the variables and it will give you tons of options. I LOVE hotwire, I have used them alot with no worries, this is just one destination, you could see about Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Texas lots of stuff.

I live in Panama City Beach, Florida and I would NOT come down here with a 12 and 15 year old during spring break. Any time of the year, yes but from the begining of march until the second week of April not good. Big spring break destination for college and university kids. About 300 000 of them visit in these 5 weeks and they are crazy... I have a 11 year old and a 14 year old and I keep them away from it all as much as possible... We can hear sirens all day long.
