Paying SDM MC Using CT Options MC... How?

Don't forget what mommymonika posted on Feb.2 about paying off her sdm credit card, and her bills with her ct credit card:

Pay your Optimum Mastercard with your CT Mastercard.
Not sure if anyone else out there has a Shoppers Optimum card and a CT Mastercard, but the CT Mastercard has a feature on it that allows you to make bill payments similar to how you would using online banking. You can search for MBNA Mastercard and enter your Optimum Mastercard number and make your payment.


It means you get Optimum points on purchases and then CT Money when you pay your Optimum Mastercard off with your CT Mastercard. I've been doing it for a few months now and am earning $25-$30 a month in CT money.


You can also use the CT mastercard to pay bills that normally aren't payable by Credit Card like property taxes and utility bills. It's a great way to rack up extra CT Money.

I just got my SDM bill in the mail today, so I came back here to bookmark this link so that I can pay it when it is due. I did a $5 test payment when I first read this and it went through no problem. So now I have the page marked for easy finding on the due date!

Thanks for noting that again. I have the CT Mastercard and will be using it for SDM cc payments as well! What a bonus!

same as any other purchase. 1% I believe.

Correct, it is 1% of whatever you pay off. So $4 for $400, it all adds up in the end!

Well my SDM bill was due next week so I just went to the Canadian Tire site and paid it on there. Paid the full amount this time. Will check my SDM account later this week to make sure it went through okay but it should be fine.

Has anyone figured out if you can still use CT to pay for the SDM Mastercard now that is switched to BOA? I can't find it on the list no matter what search term I use on there! Any help is appreciated!

I heard a rumour that CTF was getting out of credit card payments (with the CT MC) as of a week ago.

Bank of America also doesn't own the Canadian branch of MBNA. TD bought it about a year ago and I received some sort of letter about it at the time. I haven't had the SDM card for the past four years though, so I'm not sure how they handled it.

yes, it has been talked about on other forums,, the loophole is now closed . no visa , mastercard , or line of credit payments.
some property taxes are still there and water.. i was able to pay my telus bill but not much else .

Well I guess it is goodbye to SDM card and switch everything over to CT card. No point now, get more points with the CT one....

It is now confirmed. It was Canadian Tire that stopped letting people put their charge card balances on the cards. The girl told me "they were taking advantage of it." DUH? Is that not the whole point of doing it?????

So I paid the SDM with my bank and am switching all my payments back to CT now. Debating about the SDM card now...

I was paying my SDM card and smartcash cards with CT for the last year or so. Still have about $100 of CT money on my card, but bummer that they stopped this.
