spam

Just wondering about all the spam on here when I wake up, is there any way to prevent these people from accessing? I hate all these spammers. I realize the site is easy to open an account on, but maybe there is a better way to make it harder for spammers.

I worry about newbies clicking these threads, not knowing they are spam and ending up with viruses or worse.

I doubt there is any way to prevent the spammers from getting it. From what I understand about SC they want the forum to be as open as possible so the lurkers can lurk until they feel comfortable enough to make up an account.

Instead of just hitting the report button when we see one of these threads we could also post a reply letting anyone else coming along know that it is spam and not to click the links.

People are becoming more and more computer savvy these days, so I wouldn't necessarily think just because someone is a new member, they would go about clicking suspicious looking links.

But one of the things I've noticed is that there is a lot more spam on Friday mornings with offers to watch downloads of just released movies being the most popular post of choice.
