Lower Back and Leg Pain, Need Advice :(

So it all started with some tingling in my feet and hands. This happened daily for about a week, I honestly just thought it was a side effect to a new medication I started taking at the same time and thought nothing of it.

Then about Tuesday last week I was laying in bed trying to sleep and had this shooting pain down my right leg and it would not go away. I tossed and turned all night long, it hurt so much even my sleeping pills I take for epilepsy would not put me to sleep because of the pain. I finally fell a sleep and woke up and the pain was still there but bearable.

Went to work, didn't really notice it. Came home, sat on the couch and could not get comfortable. I had constant pins and needles in my feet and pain in my leg. So this went on right up until Saturday everyday and night.

But it got way worse on Saturday night. I went to bed with tight muscles in my lower back (couldn't really bend over) and a really bad pain shooting down my right leg, it wad going right into my little toe.

I woke up in pain to find both my legs twitching in pain and pins and needles in my feet. There was no way I was sleeping so I was awake till 5am.

Sunday was a write off. Spent the day in bed.

Today I got up I found myself to be like a 90yr old. I'm bent over and my legs are so weak. I can not walk up the stairs on my own and the pins and needles are constant. The pain is in both legs now and I just give up.

I have no Idea what I have done to myself :frown:

Does anyone have any idea of what thise could be?

My boyfriend is trying to make my go to the hospital right now but I'm not. With my seizures and epilepsy etc etc. I've been there enough. I have an appointment with my doctor on Wednesday.

I'd like to know if there is something I can do to eliviate the pain.

Quick question - do you drink a lot of water? It could be that you are dehydrated, which is making whatever caused the original problem worse (I'm guessing that you're avoiding food & drink cause you're feeling yucky?).

Because of my transplant, I am expected to drink 3 litres of water a day. & if life gets busy & I only drink 2, I get the pins & needles feeling, then nasty charlie horses.

When I had something similar it was diagnosed as Sciatic nerve.

thats what Im thinking. Sciatic nerve. try the water first. if not then see your dr. and ask for an MRI.

With your help and a little googling, I'm 99% sure I have bilateral sciatica.

same thing happened to me years ago--it was a ruptured disc in my back...very painful, loss of feeling in leg down to the toes.....well over six months to resolve

I'm hoping it won't take that long to resolve. But the pain is so unbearable at times.

im with itchy. first time it was 6 months of PT. second time was a year later. (6 years ago) and since then its permanent.

I was going to suggest the Sciatic nerve as well. Mine bothers me and when it happens the pain shoots right down my leg and if I try to move I'm hunched over like an old lady. I see you said you are going to the Drs tomorrow and that's good to hear, goodluck with it!

Sure, it 'sounds' like sciatica, but you need to get it checked asap.
I got it when I was pregnant, and it's still recurs every few months.

My husband (or, my resident massage therapist as I like to call him), massages things out for me, and it's SO very helpful. He starts above the lower back on the side (there's usually a trigger point you can find by poking around!), into the hips, down the thigh, then down the leg to the foot.

Otherwise, find a comfy sitting position - hardback chair is the best, and sit straight. It's also good if you can elevate your foot on a footstool.
Change positions often. In bed, do pelvic thrusts (no dirty minds!), and try sleep in the fetal position.
