Smart on the shredding! Here everything with a name on it is shredded. Regardless of how innocuous. Have a crosscut shredder. If anyone wants to try to put together 1/4" squares they are welcome to it! LOL
I got my refund yesterday!
I keep my records for a long time I have been audited twice and twice I was clean as a whistle. Three times they f’ed up either telling me I owe them or not giving my refund and keeping it until the next year. I only ever owed them money once when I was working two jobs in Alberta like 200$ because the companies screwed up and didn’t pay much cpp/EI/tips. I never lied about my tips but the government seem to think I did!

I saw a letter to the editor of my local daily paper that the CRA no longer has the PD7A form online so that a taxpayer can pay his or her taxes at the bank with the form. Snail mail is back, per the writer.
See the second letter in the link: https://www.thespec.com/opinion-stor...to-the-editor/
Since I use the internet, you can now pay directly online from most banks - CRA is a payee for either amount owed or instalments. I will use that. I rarely physically go to a branch anymore.
One more week left to file if you owe any income taxes. Remember if you don't owe taxes, filing after April 30 means a much longer period of assessment (6-8 weeks, and most of the tax season staff on contract are gone). Do you want to be mailbox spotting during the warm months?
If you got a tax refund, what to consider doing with the refund (which is too much income tax or overpayment of other payroll tax-aka free loan to gov't for a year):
