Just got back from Maxi where Quebec corn is 10/$3.
Lots of people huddled around the corn cleaning them, carefully choosing the best corn and throwing back the ones that were less than perfect.
Me, I couldn't be bothered. I just grabbed the first ten I could get my hands on and put them in my cart. Didn't remove the husks at the store.
I got home and cleaned five to cook right away. One was a bit "special". Still gonna cook it to see what it tastes like.
Do you guys clean your corn at the store, or do you wait till you get home to clean them?

I examine them at the store before buying them.. in my defense though I used to be a ‘throw it in before checkup’ kind girl until about 2 years ago when 10 out of 12 were ‘special’ and barely eatable. Now I am an obnoxious perfection corn seeker that takes up all the space. Sorry

I just pull the top back a bit and peek in. Just enough to check for bugs and see that the corn looks okay.
I should head over and get some...Hey, I've been blogging: Nifty Thrifty!

OK THIS IS MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate when people throw the husks all over the place they are so ignorant.
First of all they are ignorant, secondly if you remove the husk you are starting the process of it turning starchy and drying out. NEVER remove the husk until right before you are ready to put it in the boiling water. Boil for 6-7 minutes and that's it.
I may put this in the rant section this gets me so peeved lol

Usually, i take the corn directly from producer. Cheaper and fresher that way. Family take the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig bag which is around 6 to 8 dozen of corn.

Oh! And did you know you can cook your corn in a very small amount of water, directly with "green leaves" (don't know the real name).

If you are in a pinch you can also put the corn, husk on, in the microwave for 2-3 minutes, you have to wear oven mitts to peel it though
