I don't really like pickled beet in vinegar, but my god lacto-fermented turnip and beets are to die!
So far, I prefered nature yellow beet than the purple one.Liberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

Love beets pickled with vinegar & sugar, but DH does not eat any, it's so much work just for myself, so I steal a jar from my mom once in a while!
I don't can anything either, but I freeze a lot when in season. You can make marvellous roasted red peppers from frozen...

So proud on my DS. He's 16 and in the Grade 10 and 11 band. The band participated in the regional competition and Grade 10 came home with Silver and Grade 11 came home with Bronze a few weeks ago. If you get Gold, you get invited to play at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Yesterday and today is their spring concert and DS got an award for contributing the most for the Grade 10 band. I asked him what he did. He has no clue, lol.
Going to tonight's concert, should be more people than yesterday.
DS plays guitar and has 2 solos.
There were 2 teachers sitting next to us. I guess they figured out we were William's parents because of how DH was video taping, zooming in and all, lol. Anyways, they told us we did a wonderful job with William.Last edited by couponmummy; Fri, May 11th, 2012 at 09:46 AM.

Testing my new food dehydrator. Making fruit leather (fruit roll-ups). Strawberry-apple. We'll see how they turn out. I put the machine on a desk in the garage and it now smell wonderful in there. They should be ready between 9 and 11 tonight.

ha, that's a funny coincidence about the fruit leather...Saw an easy recipe for strawberry leather in this month's Canadian Living and was just thinking today of trying it out

I'm always surprised at how inexpensive over the counter meds are at Costco. I have no problem buying generic brands, and the Costco Kirkland Signature brand is really great.
A bottle of 300 back pain pills, $3.99.
A bottle of 300 low-dose ASA (aspirin), $4.99.
Really, next time you're at Costco, stock up on some of their meds, they'll save you a tonne of money compared to having to run to the drugstore when you are in need.
