This rule make me sick an mad. I can't give to my kids:
yogourt because they need a spoon
dried fruits because it's too sweety
cheese and crackers/cookies because it's too salty
"juicy" fruits because it's too juicy.
At Christmas, Easter, end of class for summer time I can't do homemade cake because I probably put too many sugar. I made my cake from scratch with fruit purée, whole and white wheat, less sugar and butter/oil than what the recipe ask. I use no nuts/soy/banana,kiwi etc... due to allergics. It's crazy here at CSDM.

The elementry school has learnt to deal with things before I go down and get involved. If I can't get them to work with me then Mr Penguin gets involved and then there's really trouble. It's more painless to deal with me over the phone than a double dose of Penguin parents.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Welcome to the Penguinocracy..One Penguin, One vote..I am The Penguin..I have the One Vote

Can you imagine if I set up a Sundae buffet at the mall, I think we would no longer be welcome. Or it would be so popular I could make money selling them bahahahahah
Actually they have no cafeteria, it's a small school and you are right the snacks and lunch items they get are usually not the healthiest. Up until now every lunch i did I included salads and fruits so this was just a big treat.
The principal of the school is just happy to have anyone volunteer and donat stuff. they are a small school and get very little. There are no other parents volunteers.
So far this year I was able to do a pasta lunch at xmas, 2 sausage lunches, a full course breakfast buffet, and a hot dog lunch. The sundae thing is the last for the year they finish next week.

That's crazy Annie! What CAN they eat??? Celery & carrots?
One of my friend is a dietitian, and she firmly believes in "natural" balance, i.e. nothing eaten in moderation is bad for you. What is bad is "aliments interdits" (forbidden stuff), because then kids start craving & wanting that too much. Her daughter is only 3, but I sure would not like to be the teacher trying to tell her about food rules in school... Teachers & school nowadays try to control too many aspect of the kids' live, they should concentrate on academics, and address other stuff only if the kids have specific issues. Teachers do not have a bachelors or master in nutrition like my friend does, why should they improvise themselves as food police?? Somedays I think I'm lucky I don't have kids... (doesn't last that long sadly)

Mostly yes, I pay, it's my donation project for this year, like last year was the old brewery mission. I use coupons and get donations and discounts from restaurants and friends too but today i let the principal pay for the ice cream. They would pay for everything but I figure what they don't pay me they can buy other stuff to feed the kids on other days.

Well, mine is because of the little Ewoks in StarWars (they are so cute!), and since it is often taken by someone else, is has evolved and now I use rewok on many forums (can't remember why I exactly I put the R in front and not another letter, it was so long ago).

When I enter the name in SC, I did'nt realize it will be my screen name. I thought it will be my login name only. Since abouret is something I use everywhere, that's what I took. Now, it only feel weird when I go in meeting and people call me by my family name. I always feel like I'm back to high school again.
Hi! I'm a shopaholic... hum no, scratch that, I'm a dealaholic!!!
